Long's Tire Sales Reviews (3)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Regards,
[redacted]
in response to longs tire.
After reviewing longs tires message I have come to the conclusion that Mr. l[redacted] is simply trying to pass on the buck to avoid any other actions from taking place. Mr. l[redacted] states that I used abusive language which is simply not correct and he states my mechanical abilities are non existent. well what Mr. l[redacted] fails to realize is the I use to be a Ase certified mechanic a few years ago and have extensive knowledge of auto-truck and small engine repair and maintenance procedures. Mr. l[redacted] states the  tpms system is a one piece unit well this is simply not true, the valve stems can be replaced cause they replaced the 2 driver-side valve stems and I witnessed it while I was there on my second trip. the tpms system light was not on when I showed up the first time it was off and he would not know that cause he makes his customers pull there vehicle in and out of the shop. Mr. l[redacted] is clearly confused on the matter of the tpms system reset process and I believe his mechanics including him self has little or no  knowledge of the proper procedures for tpms system reset procedures, had I known this I would not have gone there to avoid problems later. I have since taken the truck to a reputable shop that knows how to use the scan tool to have the tpms system reset and the light is off, I asked the mechanic that did the reset what he found as far as why the light stayed on and he said that it simply needed reset correctly and apparently longs tire did not know how to do that. in addition to Mr. l[redacted] remarks on the wear and tear and tpms system common problems he stated I have a 2500 dodge ram when in fact I have a 1500 dodge ram and they are too totally different systems and procedures to the reset process. I have since got the tire off the rim and I have replaced the studs my-self. I would like for Mr. l[redacted] to Refund me 400.00 for the replacement of my rim (USED) and to cover the costs of the studs and the reset of the tpms system. The rim I wont know if it is safe to drive on due to hairline cracks that may have been caused by striking the rim with a metal hammer/maul is the reason I want the rim replaced. Should this rim fail and the failure was caused by longs tire there will be major problems for longs tire.  I will be attaching pictures of the rim and the receipt for the lug nuts they installed and the hub assembly showing the stud. Mr. l[redacted] states that he greases the hub assembly to avoid the galvanic welding of metal to metal and as the pictures show he clearly does not use anything. Mr. l[redacted] states he is going to send a 10 dollar refund fee and later states he is sending a 35 dollar refund fee, well which is it? 35 dollars don't even cover the cost of the tpms system reset at the shop I took the truck to. the studs I purchased were 15 dollars a piece and I needed 2 of them not including tax.

Dear [redacted]I am responding to [redacted]’s complaint filed on 1/9/2016. ID#[redacted] may need to be property...

informed of his own vehicle. Let’s take note that his vehicle is at least 7 years old and because of our many years of experience we noticed wheel lug nuts on his vehicle that were swelled. The clad shell was swelled due to rust, therefore we had difficultly removing the lug nuts. This is a common occurrence in the tire industry.Furthermore [redacted] suggested we would replace the valve stems. This simply is not true, because he has non replaceable valve stems. He has a valve stem and TPMS system that is combined as one piece, (see attached information). The cost to replace this system is approximately $65.00 each. When [redacted] came into the tire shop his TPMS sensor light was already illuminated. This is caused by many reasons, (see attachment). Mr. [redacted]’s problem is not with the sensors, but with his TPMS system. It is our practice to scan the sensors for failure, which Mr. [redacted] witnessed us doing, We also reset the system to turn off the light according to Dodge recommendations found in the vehicles owners manual. If the light continues to illuminate it is due to a problem with his TPMS system not the sensors. He may have a malfunction in one to the components. We do not offer that service. As to the reference of "using a hammer’ to remove the wheel, this is a procedure that is used with a rubber mallet, commonly caused by neglected maintenance. Rust should be removed and lubricant applied anytime the wheels are removed. This is another common procedure that we perform. The lug nut issue is a very common wear and tear problem (see attachment). The proper way to start a lug is by hand and then turning it on 3 turns, making it nearly impossible to cross thread the lug nut. The problems with lug nuts are often caused by debris lodging between the wheel stud and wheel nut causing the wheel nut to tighten and the stud to break. To address Mr. [redacted]’s complaint regarding our phone conversation, he was obviously agitated making it impossible to explain our operating procedures and that this is a common occurrence. I did express that I would ‘‘hang up” if he was unable to calm down and listen to my explanation and resolution. I attempted to tell him to purchase the wheel stud and lug nuts and we would install them at no charge. I reiterate he was very agitated and rude using derogatory language, at this point it was apparent he wasn't receptive to my explanation and resolution and proceeded to tell me he would be turning me into the Revdex.com and hung up.Therefore, acting in a professional business manner, we will be sending Mr. [redacted] a money order in the amount of $10 to purchase wheel studs and lug nuts at his convenience. Due to the situation we would prefer he have them installed at a garage other than Long’s Tire Sales.Sincerely,Long’s Tire Sales, Management

Review: AT THE END OF OCTOBER 2015 I TOOK A 2008 DODGE RAM 1500 TO THE BUISNESS TO GET NEW TIRES INSTALLED AND THE BUISNESS STATED THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO DO THE JOB. AFTER INSTALLING THE TIRES THEY STATED THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE SWELLED UP AND REQUIRE REPLACING, I TOLD THEM TO REPLACE THEM AT THAT TIME. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE VALVE STEMS AT THAT TIME AND RESET THE TPMS SYSTEM FOR THE NEW PRESSURE IN THE TIRES SO THE DASH STAYS OFF. ON THE WAY HOME I NOTICED THE LIGHT WAS ON AND STILL IS. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK OVER TO THEM A WEEK LATER AND THEY ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND SAID ONCE AGAIN THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED, WELL THE LIGHT IS STILL ON AS I WRITE THIS COMPLAINT..THE SENSORS ARE GOOD AND COMMUNICATING WITH THE TOOL THEY USE CAUSE I WAS STANDING BY THE MECHANIC WHEN HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO FIX THE ISSUE....

ON JAN. 8 2016 I WAS GOING TO ROTATE THE TIRES AND NOTICED THAT 2 OF THE LUG NUTS WOULD NOT COME OFF AND WERE FREE SPINNING ABOUT 180 DEGREES, I BELIEVE THEY ARE CROSS THREADED.. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO SEE IF ITS THE STUD OR THE LUG NUT I NOTICED THE MECHANIC USED A HAMMER TO REMOVE THE TIRES FROM THE HUB AND CAUSING SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE INNER SIDE OF THE ALUMINUM RIM.

I CALLED THE SHOP TODAY AND EXPLAINED THE LUG NUT ISSUE AND EXPLAINED I THOUGHT IT WAS THE LUG NUT THAT IS FAILING AND THEY NEEDED TO FIX AT THERE COST. THEY STATED THEY WOULD FIX IT BUT THERE WOULD BE A MATERIAL AND LABOR CHARGE THAT I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CAUSE THE LUG NUTS HAVE NOT BEEN REMOVED SINCE THEY FIRST INSTALLED THEM. I ALSO MENTIONED THAT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE 2 LUG NUTS WERE POSSIBLE CROSS THREADED AND AT THAT TIME THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH STATED THAT HE WOULD HANG UP ON ME IF I WANT TO START THE (BLAME GAME) I ALSO STATED THE TPMS LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND HE STATED THAT WAS MY PROBLEM. I HE STATED THE LUG NUT ISSUE HAPPENS ALL THE TIME AND IS NOT A UNCOMMON ISSUE, I STATED I HAVE NEVER HAD IT HAPPEN OR HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM TILL NOW. I DONT FEEL I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE OR THE CORRECT REPAIR OF THIS ISSUE.Desired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE THE BUISNESS TO ISSUE A REFUND OF THE MONEY OR TO PAY THE BILL OF A TRUSTED SHOP TO FIX THE ABOVE ISSUES...I DONT TRUST THE SHOP AT THIS TIME AND DONT DESIRE TO DO BUISNESS WITH THEM ANYMORE. I WOULD LIKE THE TPMS SYSTEM TO BE RESET CORRECTLY AND THE VALVE STEMS TO BE REPLACED THAT WERE NOT REPLACED.
