Initial Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2016/09/12) */
First issue of the biting has been addressed. The child that is the one generally biting has been released from care; however, there were steps that needed to be taken with the child that is the biter since he is a ward of the state and is n...

the custody of the Children's Division. This child has developmental delays and can not communicate and when this child gets fustrated ends up biting. We have a plan in place that was developed from the therapist, case worker and the director as to what the steps needed to be taken when he bit and one was to give the therapist time to work with the child to enable the child a better means of communication. This child has been dismissed form childcare. As to the spreading of Hand,Foot, Mouth disease we notified all parents the very day the first case was confirmed by sending out a letter to all parents in the child's folder, which is what licensing requires the facility to do. We contacted the health department to come in an help us find out where the spreading of the disease was and they could not conclude that the disease was coming from the center itself. We contacted local doctors offices to find out if they had any better solutions and we were told that Hand, Foot, Mouth was everywhere in the city of Springfield and that they were seeing many cases of Hand, Foot, Mouth and all we could do was follow the sanitation guidelines. At this same time we had our annual inspection by the state sanitarian and nothing was discovered as to our facility not using proper sanitation procedures. This client only comes three days a week and the week that the child missed we did comp the fee the week it was confirmed the child had Hand, Foot, Mouth disease. This client did file a complaint with our licensing department and the licensing department told this client that we did notify her properly about the Hand, Foot, Mouth disease. Upon the complaint to licensing the director asked one of the owners to speak with the parent and to our understanding that everything was taken care of on our part. If the parent had any concerns we would have addressed them at this time but no other issues were brought to our attention. We have been trying to contact the parent to see if there is anything else we can do to help her out and to resolve any other issues she may have and she has not made contact back with us. If you have any further questions or need any further information please contact me via email at [redacted]@att.net.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 12, 2016/09/12) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First off, I was told it was a different child biting mine every single time there was an incident. So one child being removed from the daycare has nothing to do with my child being bit over and over by other children. Second off, I was NOT informed of the Hand, Foot, and Mouth until I actually called and spoke with the director letting her know that I took my child to urgent care and it was confirmed he had the disease. It was at that point I was informed she already knew 4 other children had the disease. I have never been contacted by the licensing department. I have also NEVER received a call, email, ect. from the owner since the SECOND time my child had Hand, Foot, and Mouth. They state "we have been trying to contact the parent...she has not made contact back with us" and this is 100% false. My child has had 19 accident reports from this daycare since October 2015. One accident from the end of August wasn't even reported and the director made one up when I asked about the report a week later when I was getting copies of each report. Neither me or the father were notified the night of the incident, nor did we EVER sign a report. My child's father was told TWO days later that our son was bit that previous Monday. But again, there was NO report and NOTHING signed. A childcare facility lying in their response to my complaint is not acceptable by me and should not be by anyone else either.
