The agreed upon contract total was $8,000 with a scope of exterior painting and deck work and $5000 for the work inside the house. We had been there for 3 week and while my crew was finishing the last of the job, we were asked to dump some materials on our way out. Mr. [redacted] was not there at the time and asked me to speak with his wife to determine what needed to be dumped. We walked through the house multiple times to make sure we dumped all items that were trash including many things that were not part of the demolition or installation of the current project. Mr. [redacted] and I had been working together for about 1 month at this point and we had performed a lot of additional work that was not part of the scope. no matter how much additional scope he added and we agreed to perform for no additional cost, he didnt seem to be satisfied. The more free work we did for him, the more he wanted. Towards the end of the project I had decided that this was the last project I was going to do for him because I was losing money. I went to the dump and met him back at the house. We reviewed the completed project and Mr. [redacted] was satisfied with the quality of the workmanship. He paid me the balance of $2,500 and we left. Several days later, he asked me for a bid to do additional work at his home. I ignored his multiple requests and 5 days later he texted me making up a story about missing sunglasses and materials.
