I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  Unfortunately at this point, it is my word against Dr. [redacted]'s, however, my wife was with me in the examination room and can attest to the fact that I specifically called to Dr. [redacted]'s attention the red line going up my foot from my toe.  He quickly dismissed this, did not examine my foot underneath the toe that was giving me such horrible pain and brushed it off/attributed it to a "fracture".  He had scheduled an MRI for approximately a week after my initial visit.  I did call his office a day or two after the initial visit to request a stronger pain medication because the pain was just absolutely unbearable.  He advised he couldn't prescribe anything stronger at that time and would discuss the possibility when I came for the MRI, which was still quite a few days away.  And so yes, I felt he didn't care about the level of pain I was in and wasn't really "listening".  He makes it sound like I was just trying to get narcotics, like I was some kind of drug addict.  So I did cancel the appointment for the MRI and that is when I decided to go to the VA Hospital in [redacted] and they immediately advised that day that I had a severe infection in my toe, had no fracture and gave me antibiotics.  Dr. [redacted]'s statement, which I again resent very much,  couldn't be further from the truth, I avoid taking any kind of pain medication unless it is absolutely necessary.
 
So again, unfortunately my word against his and I'm sure I'll wind up having to pay for a boot that I didn't need (and actually caused even more severe pain).  I certainly don't want my credit being affected by this, but I wanted to document what really happened and reinforce the fact that Dr. [redacted] was not thorough at all in his examination, even after me calling the issue with my toe to his attention.  I wound up losing my toe and perhaps it would not have come to that if he had done his job.

From Dr. [redacted]: patient turned me in to state medical board which fully investigated me and determined that...

his care was handled well and that all care provided was medically indicated including a review of all records, the patient's interview and a written and oral interview with me.  The walker boot and care he was provided were and are medically indicated.  His anger with me stemmed from my refusal to provide him narcotics as he desired in the office and he asked us never to contact him again.
 
Since appropriate medical care has been delivered and supported by the state medical board, the charge was appropriate and will stand.
