power vent and electric hot water heater. The owner states that our company installed the power vent incorrectly.  Our policy is to provide our customers with high quality service and workmanship. The technician whom completed the work, [redacted], also owner and President of the company, holds a Master license as an oil technician.  If the power vent was thought to be installed incorrectly by the owner, the owner should have contacted us to let us know of the issue and we would have corrected any issue.  We stand behind our work 100%.  The customer never contacted us regarding the said issue and continued to make payments toward the account.  The work was complete by end of February 2014.  First payment received, was April 2014.  We should have taken ½ down at start of job, but mistakenly we did not.  Payments were very far and few between and there were only 4 payments total.  The last payment received was February 2015.  I request from the owner that she supply us with the proof of another vendor that she states had to correct the work. She also states she paid for that, which I request to see proof of.  In May/June of 2014, the owner told me that I was to talk with her about the account and that her husband was giving her the money to make payments.  On February 7, 2015, only having received 3 payments at that point, and the last one being August 2014, as well as having sent collection letters, one from an attorney’s office, all to no avail, we called the husband via phone.  He returned that call on February 8, 2015, the phone call duration was 88 minutes.  He told us that he thought payments were being made and he was intent on paying us in full.  He was very apologetic.  He sent payment shortly after that phone call, dated February 14, 2015, the last payment we received.  During that phone conversation, the husband told [redacted] that a while after the installation, they could smell fumes.  He said that he was embarrassed to call us because we hadn’t been paid for the job.  [redacted] did explain to him that he should have called us and we would have fixed any issue.  It is very unfortunate to hear of his death. We have attempted to contact the owner of this home and her husband many, many times over the last year and a half to talk about payment.  As I stated, there have only been 4 payments made in 1.5 years of work complete. Regrettably, words were exchanged which prompted this complaint.  The owner can be assured that her desire for us to never enter her property again is granted and that the matter will continue to be handled in a more legal fashion. Additional facts: We are a family company, husband and wife team, no employees.  The money that has paid for the parts to be installed in the owner’s home, we have paid for.  She is enjoying heat and hot water at our expense.I have personally been more than accommodating with her when she said she would send payment the same day, and over a week later, not having received payment, I needed to call again to inquire about it.  Most phones calls I made to her were unanswered and un-returned. We have been extremely patient in waiting for payment, hoping to avoid a collection agency or the court.  Being a small company, we would like to avoid having to take unpaid accounts to court and allow the customer to make payments, as court takes time and that time is unpaid, as well as it costs money to go to court.  The owner of this property has made it clear that she is no longer intending to finish paying the balance.  I understand she would prefer going to court, as she did tell [redacted] to take her to court.  Purchase Price:  $2,468.00Total payments made to date:  $1,000.00Remaining Balance owed:  $1,468.00Job was completed by end of February 2014.Desired settlement:Home owner will pay her balance in full.
