Contact Name and Title: [redacted]

On 7/21/14 [redacted] purchased a Jeep Liberty signing all documents which, includes a Buyers Guide that states vehicle is sold...

AS/IS AS/SHOWN.
She called a short time later with some complaints that her mechanic said needed to be fixed.
On 8/4/14 she brought it in to us and we paid $309.51 to [redacted] for Oil Change, Engine Flush and new filter. AT OUR OWN EXPENSE, WE PAID PELUCO's Garage in full.
ON 8/13/14 she came back with another checklist from her mechanic and we replaced 6 spark plugs AT OUR OWN EXPENSE.
On 8/22/14 she called and said her mechanic diagnosed the car as needing new coils. We immediately told her to come in.
The coils were $142.86, the customer's grandfather insisted on paying for the coils. He gave us a check for $150 but we paid for the Labor cost to replace the 6 engine coils.
WE PAID FOR THE ALL LABOR.
We paid for the car to be repaired on 3 separate occasions as per her specific requests from her mechanic even though she signed a Buyers
Guide that states AS/IS AS/SHOWN.
USED cars are sold as is. Any consumer purchasing a used vehicle also has the option of having the vehicle checked out by a mechanic of their choice prior to the signing of any documents. Buyers are also offered the option of adding an extended warranty to the purchase of their vehicle, which she declined.
We have addressed every issue that was presented by Ms. [redacted]. This is the first we have been made aware of any complaint of a "bad motor" diagnosed by an unnamed mechanic. Furthermore, the car was in good working condition when she drive it off the lot on July 21, 2014.
We are happy to provide any and all documentation to support our position.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2014/10/07) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
A couple days after purchasing my car I took it back to get it fixed , obviously my car already had big problems that I was not aware of. Every time I took my car in they reassured me that they would fix any problems with the vechlie. Also my grandfather payed for new coils to be put in my vechlie when my grandfather opened up the hood of the car he noticed that the coils were used. We went back inside the dealership and asked why they put in used coils when we had payed for new ones. The lady in the office called over there mechanic and explained to him the situation , he then told us that his boss gives him the parts to fix the cars that he wasn't aware of it. Also I never ever spoke with my mechanic until recently when my grandfather had the mechanic come over and look at the car.My macanic took a look at the vechlie and told me that the engine of the car was no good he also said they put in a special type of oil that disguises the problem. I feel like I was taken advantage of because my age and gender. They were aware of the problem when I bought it. At this point I don't trust them to fix my car and just want my money back.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2014/10/15) */
We will not be returning any money to Ms [redacted] based on the following:
- The customer signed a Buyer's Guide which states the vehicle is sold AS IS - AS SHOWN.
- There was nothing wrong with the car mechanically or otherwise when it was purchased.
- Several reasonable and fair attempts to fix minor problems have been made only to be met with more demands.
-The car was repaired to her mechanic's specifications using NEW parts (see attached receipts)
- Oil was flushed and changed according to industry guidelines by Peluco's garage in Stone Park (See attached)
- Claims by her 'mechanic' cannot be substantiated.
Essentially her story has changed many times, now accusing us of putting used parts and magic oil in her car, none of which us true. (See attached receipts)
We encourage all of our customers to have their mechanic look at any vehicle on our lot prior to purchase and have gone out of our way to meet Ms [redacted]'s demands post-purchase only to be met with skepticism and accusations. At this point, all we are willing to give her is our best wishes.
