On Oct we had black SUVs pull up to the curb in front of our house about PM as we were unloading our van from shopping Two men approached us and asked if we would like a "free" roof! Naturally we were very skeptical and asked a number of questions before we discovered that these men were "*** ***" One was from the ** *** ** *** and the other was from Mid America They informed us that our roof had wind damage and that our insurance company would replace our roof as the shingles we had were no longer being made(We had just had the roof replaced in the last years but had noticed some of the shingles were curling but had not investigated further).They got up on the roof took pictures and showed us the photos where the shingles were bent and broken and the nail heads were still bright silver At the time we asked if we could choose another roofer other than Mid America and were told we could In hindsight we wish we had! Mid America told us our roof would be put on in weeks The insurance adjuster from our insurance came out or days later to verify everything and signed off on having the roof replaced We only needed to pay the deductible which was $1,(but they ended up only asking for $500) They presented a check for partial payment to us which we signed over to Mid America Two weeks came and went with no word from anyone, then guys from Mid America showed up to look at the roof again for the insurance company and said it would probably be late Nov or early Decbefore the roof was installed There was some question as to whether the gutters would also be replaced which our insurance company did agree to eventually We continued to wait as we had been told by Mid America that a dumpster would be delivered to our house days before the roofing crew would come to do the roof We were further told that any trash, large or small, could be put in this dumpster for disposal So we cleaned out alot of junk and some construction debris and put it out beside the house to be put in the dumpster We got a call the week before Christmas that our roof would be installed on Dec 26th, the day after Christmas We got up early and waited for them to arriveOne guy with a pickup pulled up and we said "you're here to put on the roof, right?" He said no, that it was scheduled to be done on Thursday, he was just there to check the job out We asked when the dumpster would be delivered and he said they don't use a dumpster and haven't for 5+ years, they just use a small trailer and they can only take shingles in itSince we were going out of town on Wedfor days and since we had been told there would be a dumpster for us to throw out the trash in we were not very happy We called Mid America and informed them that we would be out of town and asked what to do about the trash since we had be assured there would be a dumpster We were told not to worry that this guy who came to the house from Mid America originally with the IL insurance inspector would be there to supervise and see that it was all done correctly and he would personally take care of the trash The next morning at 7:AM we were awakened by someone pounding on our door It turned out to be the roofing crew saying that they were putting on the roof that day!! We had planned to spend that day with family who had come in from around the country for Christmas instead we had to be at our house until 6PM when we finally got to leave and go see our family for a couple of hours!! We had been assured that the gutters would be put on the day after the roof was done so when we returned from out of town we expected to see that we had a new roof (which looked nice) and new gutters The gutters had not been done Again we called Mid America and were told they would take care of it A couple of days later a guy shows up and asked what color gutters we wanted and took a look around the house and asked if they could do it that day We said YES! We never saw him again or heard anything from Mid America The next day a van pulled in with a crew and said they were here to do the gutters So the gutters got installed and look good So now we were still left with a pile of trash that Mid America said they would remove The fellow responsible for removing the trash promised he would come last Sun 1/and remove the trash Never happened and no one contacted us until Monday evening when he called to say he was very sorry but his guniea pig had gall stone surgery and he had to be with her all weekend He then promised that he would remove the trash this week but couldn't promise what day Well, today is Friday 1/and he finally did show up to remove the trash This company is very disorganized, and unprofessionalNo one seems to know what anyone else is doing, you can't believe any of what they tell you It has been an absolute nightmare and we definitely wish we had chosen another roofing company!! They got an A+ rating with *** from one positive review for tuck pointing They have only been in business for years I seldom hire any company that calls or comes to the door, my husband said "they're here and he seems OK, let's let them do it" It was a hectic time so I just went along with him on this We will NEVER do that again!
I hired MAE after an insurance claim through met lifeMet life offered me 9,for my damages...it wasn't enough to fix the repairMAE adjusted the claim and my final amount was 22k I was able to get work complete and even install windowsIt is a longer process because the insurance company drags their feet but, the results were worth the wait
I hired Mid America Exteriors to replace the siding on my home on 6-10-The job was completed in September of Sometime in early I realized that the vent for the dryer was covered by the new sidingI contacted Mid America Exterior and was told that they would send a crew out to rectify the issueThey have NOT done thatI have repeatedly left messages with their answering service but no one returned my call A few weeks ago I noticed a bad odor in the laundry room (which I'm attributing to the enclosed vent) I left a voice message that I would contact the Revdex.com if they did not resolve the issue Not surprisingly, I got a call back from someone at Mid America Exteriors I gave them the name of their sales representative that was used for the project and was told that they had similar "issues" with the crew associated with that sales representativeI was then given the name and number of another to contact to get the issue resolved, I called that person and was
I had Mid America Exteriors come out and look at my roof due to damage They worked with my insurance company and made it as painless as possible for me Only had to pay the deductible Would recommend using
I purchased a short sale that needed a new roof, siding, windows and faciaMike gave me a great price and he and his team did a great job installing itThe quality of the products they used were great as well! I definitely recommend them if you ever need any exterior work done!
