The client and I had an extended negotiation at the top of our session, in which I told her that I could either speak to this client for minutes for free or for one hour paid? I informed her that all potential LCSW's supervision were subject to agreement for both parties after the initial interview? I informed this client that every CSWA I see pays for my time, and that I do not give away more than minutes of my time to assess fit for supervision? At the end of the hour, it became clear that this was not a social worker that I felt comfortable supervising for several reasons? It is generally understood and accepted in the profession of social work that if a CSWA is unwilling to seek therapy when needed that they may not be a good candidate for becoming an LCSW? This is also in our Code of Ethics (4.05) and is addressed in social work education?
