Louie's Central Coast

Review: I have used Louie's Central Coast Movers twice before in the past ten years and have been satisfied with the company's service and prices. However, this time was different: I was charged twice as much as the job was bid. Since LCCM had moved my same furniture before, the bid was given by phone rather than in person. The bid was for three men to do the move in six hours for an estimated price of $890-$1,035. Instead, four men (including the owner's son) were sent and I was charged $1,912 -- twice as much as the bid! I understand that a bid is approximate but to quote half the price LCC Movers ended up charging seems like a 'bait and switch' tactic. Also, it appeared that two of the movers were experienced and the other two were not so a job that was estimated to take 6 hours wasn't finished after ten hours. By then, it was 8:30 pm and the older, experienced movers were exhausted so I let them go without finishing the job. Then next day I had to hire someone to help move the rest of my belongings. When presented with the bill, I refused to pay the inflated amount and instead wrote a check for what I believed was a fair compromise between what was estimated and what was charged. The check was cashed by LCCMovers. Some time after, I was contacted by LCCMovers and told if I did not pay an additional $500, it would be sent to a collector.Desired Settlement: I would like the Revdex.com to contact LCC Movers and explain to the owner the bait and switch tactic and why it is not a good business practice. I believe that when a merchant cashes a customer's check, he is accepting that amount as payment for services rendered. If I am incorrect about this, I would appreciate a call and an explanation.
