Louise's Trattoria Reviews (1)

In response to the customer complaint from 08/20/2016, in regards to a evening dinner reservation for 08/19/for 20-people Upon arrival, the host and a few of her female guests decided to sit at the bar, already minutes late for their table reservation, to wait for the remainder of
their party of people, to arriveIt was immediately apparent that they were slightly intoxicated before entering the establishmentWhile waiting, these individuals ordered several cocktails and appetizers, which they consumed while seated at the barAfter approximately minutes, minutes past their table dinner reservation, the entire party had arrived and they were then seated in the dining room, upon settling up their tabs at the barThe party also increased the size of their reservation (without prior warning) to people and added a table to the partyDuring dinner guests enjoyed full entrees, as well as cocktails and drinks and a couple bottles of wine, the wine ordered by the host and a complimentary birthday dessertAll but a very small minority of the patrons enjoyed alcoholic drinksThroughout dinner service, all of the guests were rowdy, loud and displayed signs of intoxicationThe individuals were also frequently changing seats, making it impossible for the experienced serving staff to track which members of the party ordered which itemsWhen it became time for the payment of the bill, I was informed by both of the servers attending to the table, that the guests were requesting separate checksI then immediately introduced myself to the party’s hostess, who explained to me that she had been informed by the servers that we would not be able to provide them with more than separate checks, meaning that we could divide the bill any way they sought fit for a maximum of forms of paymentTo accept more forms of payment would necessitate dividing the bill more than the agreed upon checksThis is a rather common practice among many restaurants which ensures that the bill is paid for completely and in a prompt mannerI confirmed this with her and she sarcastically asked me if I thought that people would be comfortable paying for the entire billI calmly explained that our computer system will not accommodate more than separations of one check and politely asked if this was explained to her at the time she made the reservationWe made it explicitly clear that the party was welcome to use a public ATM within sight of the restaurant which the guest impolitely refused to consider as an optionShe confirmed that this was in fact specified to her at the time she made the reservation and rudely demanded we fix this problem immediatelyMeanwhile, all the guests at the table began making rude remarks and impatiently starting milling about the restaurantI then spoke privately with the assigned servers in an attempt to resolve the issue of bill paymentOne of the servers suggested splitting of the checks of the entrees for the two guests who did not consume any alcohol, and then dividing up the remainder of the bill evenly among the remaining peopleI then returned to the host and politely presented the proposed solution, who agreed and the bill was then divided evenly, in violation of the restaurants clearly stated and agreed upon policyThe two entrees were split off, with the remaining portion of the bill divided evenly amongst the remainder, about $per personThere were a total of checks that were carefully prepared by the staff, a full times the number of checks of the restaurant policy allowsAll this was done in an effort to placate the party and provide the finest dining experience possibleUpon the presentation to the individuals, a few of those already intoxicated became verbally belligerent, stated their disgust and one woman refused to pay her billIt was then that a few of the other less intoxicated individuals attempted to console the woman and even offered to pay her billThe woman was inconsolable and ended up leaving with a $bill on the table and told the staff, “to deal with it,” $short of her $billUpon leaving, the host apologized for her guests and stated that she was embarrassed for their behaviorIn addition, in the confusion of trying to settle the exorbitant number of checks, there was a total of around $in payment that was never submitted to the restaurant for the billSo, the party received roughly $in product that they never paid for and the staff wasn’t compensated forThe restaurant had to absorb the costs of that product Miranda *** *** ***, Louise’s Trattoria, Milwaukee Matt ***
