This is to inform you that the Louisville Metro Housing Authority (LMHA) is in receipt of the letter you sent dated February 23, LMHA appreciates your patience in giving us the opportunity to investigate your allegationsYour letter alleged that mold is present in the house that you
currently reside in and that you transferred from a previous apartment that had mold and asbestosYou further
stated that the units have caused sickness to your family and you requested for financial assistance to move outside of LMHAYou alleged that a foul smell comes from your water and you requested for LMHA to install a water filterYou further stated that you received conflicting responses (regarding your concerns) from persons who were sent to do repairs and to check out
your apartmentMs***, please know that your allegations have been investigated and the following are LMHAs findings:
Matter regarding mold in your house - *** *** ***
Response: Upon LMHA receiving the complaint of mold in your unit, tests were scheduled through ***, an environmental company that test for moldThe results of the tests returned negative (not present) for moldPlease see the attached test resultsMatter regarding mold in previous apartment located at *** *** ***Response: As you are aware the apartment in question was located at the Iroquois Homes Development, which is now demolishedLMHA has no record or documents that indicate that mold or asbestos was reported or present in that apartmentAdditionally, Iroquois was demolished due to the property being aged, antiquated, functionally obsolete and not conducive for remodeling; therefore, it was demolishedMatter regarding request for financial assistance
Response: It is against LMHAs Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy (ACOP) and Lease Agreement to provide relocation assistance for the purpose for which you have requestedRelocation assistance is only provided when residents are or have been displaced for reasons beyond their control and reasons LMHA deemed necessary to provide such assistanceTherefore, the situation that you have described does not meet the criteria to receive relocation assistanceMatter regarding foul smell coming from the water
Response: LMHA contacted the Louisville Water Company (LWC) to notify them of your concernUpon LMHAs contact with LWC, it was learned that LWC had already investigated your concern and that they had informed you that there was not a problem with the water and the smell was possibly coming from grease inside your sink drainAnd they advised you to pour bleach into the drain to help eliminate the smellThe LWC would not provide a copy of their findings to LMHA, because documents and certain information are only privy to the person whos named on the accountTherefore, a written copy of their findings are only available to youLMHA recommends for you to get a copy of LWC findings and to do as they recommendedThis also addresses the matter regarding your request for a water filterPlease be advised that it is not the practice of LMHA to install or purchase water filters for any units under its managementThe Matter regarding you receiving conflicting information (from repair men and a contractor) regarding concerns in your apartment
Response: LMHA investigated the above and could not confirm the allegationsIn addition to the above, Managements records indicate that on February , you submitted a request to transfer to another unit; because of moldPlease be advised that your request was denied based on the attached mold test results, which states that your unit tested negative (not present) for moldHowever, be aware that in the future, you always have the right to submit a transfer request, but it will be subject to Managements approvalThis concludes Managements findingsIf you have any questions, please contact meSincerely,
