Thank you very much for bringing this matter to our attention. Please be advised that we have waived the patient’s outstanding balance of $in its entirety. In reviewing this matter, it appears that the original payment plan between the patient and the hospital was based on her
estimated financial responsibility for services rendered. The patient’s actual financial responsibility, following insurance processing, was in fact higher than what had been estimated; however, the patient was not properly notified of the corrected balance by the hospital and her payment plan was not effectively updated to reflect this information. Once the patient fulfilled her original payment plan responsibility, the remaining balance was assigned to a third part billing services that sent the patient the statement in May of that she referenced. We sincerely apologize that this matter was not handled consistent with our usual and customary billing processes. In light of our internal processing error, we agree that waiver of the outstanding balance is appropriate

Attached please find a copy of our original response back to this gentleman with respect to his complaint about his wife's care in our Emergency Department setting. We did regret to learn that these experiences did not meet their service expectationsThe subject charges at issue were
incurred during the initial ED visit as part of the comprehensive medical screening examination (MSE) performed by the attending medical provider, including imaging studies and laboratory work that was completed. The imaging studies were positive for diverticular disease and ovarian cyst, neither of which is appropriate for treatment in the Emergency Department setting. While in the ED, the patient reported resolution of her pain symptoms. She was found to be in clinically stable condition and did not meet criteria for inpatient admission. It was recommended that the patient follwith her primary care physician as needed. The subject complaint was reviewed by our Emergency Department leadership team and care was found to be clinically appropriate. The amount of the patient's remaining financial responsibility is based upon her benefits plan with her healthcare insurerWe do regret to learn of the service delay experienced during the patient's second visit a couple of days later; however, these charges are not related to that particular visit.Please feel free to contact our office if we may be of any further assistance with this matter.
