This vehicle has been significantly altered from factory and has been lowered with the rear frame cut out and reinforced above the rear axleThe spring mounts are modified, the axle does not fit properly in the aftermarket bracketThe steering wheel was over degrees off center to begin with. The Customer said he did the modifications himself with some friends, and stated he was a Journeyman Welder and some of his family were mechanicsHe also stated he just bought the truck about a week before and the steering wheel was way offHe also stated that he had encountered many problems and having difficulty with other areas when modifying the suspension. We did the initial alignment and got it within specs, but the steering wheel was way off centerWe had to figure out why it was so badWe did mention it COULD be the steering box and ordered the partTuesday morning the part was matched to the one in the vehicle, and was not the problem, and part returned to supplier.I discussed with the customer what had transpired and told him we would not just throw parts at the truckI told him I was working with The GM Dealer as to what could be the problemI mistakenly said the truck may not have been equipped with Air Bags, in many came without Air Bags, however the option code was with Air BagsWe tried to allign the steering column at the steering box with no successWe then removed the steering wheel and found there was a master spline and could not be changedAt the firewall under a rubber boot there was another coupller and we turned it to allign the steering wheel with success. We then proceeded to redo the alignment as now we could reference the steering wheel to the front wheelsAt this point we found the rear axle was crooked by 1" longer front wheel to rear wheel on the right side compared to the left sideWe found the lower spring plate was not in the center hole on the left sideIt is still out about a half and inch? We adjusted the toe in to specs, but had to leave the camber in at the top as the tires would contact the fendersOn the road test it steered straight and the steering was centered, however when going over a dip in the road the truck right front tire would contact and rubIn addition the rear suspension would bottom out and the shocks were weak making it bouncyI called the customer and informed him we got the alignment as close as possible and the the Air Bag clock spring broke causing the Air Bag Light to be illuminated, therefore disable the Air Bag systemHe replied he would be right over. This individual at first seemed fine to deal with, and on Monday April 24, agreed to continue with the work, He was informed it could be the steering box, but we would not throw parts at itHe paid $cash deposit and a work order was printed with the information including the steering box costHe told me (Len) of having difficulties modifying the truckHe seemed fine with us attempting to center the steering column and was informed that we were still investigating the column issueI did say it may have been built without Air Bags, which this truck was built with themThe seats have been changedHe also stated he would be very happy having the steering wheel straight.Tuesday April 26, Mr [redacted] , his girlfriend and a friend arrived to pick up the truckMike dealt with the customer and they became difficult and started to argueMike and the customer went out to the truck but the key would not unlock the door and ? Mike used the tools to unlock the truckThe customer was angry, swearing, and claimed the wheels were not straight and the alignment was not doneNOTE: the customer never got inside or drove the truck at this pointThe hood was opened to show his mechanic where the problem area was with the column.Note: The customer was charged only for partial alignment to replace supplied power steering hose and for diagnosis and aligning steering column and left rear axle lower mount plate. The final invoice came to $which he was refunded the difference from $We agreed to replace the clock spring labor only if he provided the part as the steering column was installed improperly apparently by his mechanic (as his mechanic said he installed it)The clock spring center reference was lostThey argued for awhile and took the truck.Shortly after Mike found the customer was bashing Edison Motors on [redacted] and saying negative thingsMike phoned the customer to find out what he could do to resolve the issue, even offering a full refund, he refused the refund and refused to bring the truck backHis girlfriend went on all social media to bash the BusinessHowever many people defended Edison Motors and The [redacted] Monitor has been deleting most posts in Gibbons[redacted] ? ? ? ? ?

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:Evidence attachedNo wheel alignment was doneAs stated by Mike he moved the rear end inch in doing so he stripped the u bolt holding the differential in place (picture attached)The day we picked up the truck Mike said the truck was 100%There was no mention of concern of the truck being "unsafe" or "un road worthy" as he has stated in his responseThe truck was taken to a Licensed mechanic shop, a wheel alignment done and a Vehicle Inspection done The truck has none of the issues as stated by Mike A paper copy of the wheel alignment was provided which shows the before and after and supports my claim that Edison did not do a wheel alignment (which he admitted to via phone) There was no need to move the rear endIn doing so new u bolts had to be purchasedHe performed unnecessary work, and charged for work he did not do.
Sincerely,
*** ***
