My name is *** *** and I am the manager of High Key Apartments, this is in response to a complaint filed by *** *** who was a resident of our complex at *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***First I would like to start off by saying that Mr*** moved into that apartment in November
after his move in there was a change in management, but all files remain the sameMr*** had numerous snakes and turtles in the apartment without any type of written authorization from previous management, he did have a pet agreement for a cat but no other animalsI was not aware of the snakes and turtles in the apartment until it was brought to my attention by the AC company we called to handle the call placed by Mr*** concerning his AC not workingWe were told by the AC tech that there was a large amount of moister in the apartment and stated that it was caused by the large number of aquariums in the apartmentUpon hearing this I then questioned Mr*** about the reptiles, to which he stated the previous manager knew about them and it was ok to have them, I told him that his current lease states that at no time may you have any reptiles in the apartment without written authorization (which there was not) and or a pet deposit for each being paid, I then told him I would have to speak with our attorney to see what his thoughts wereMr*** did call in his AC not cooling several more times and each time it was taken care of, the motor on the AC was replacedMr*** came in and gave a written day notice as required by his TAA lease, but at no time did he ever state he was moving because of his AC not cooling, he did state that he found a good deal on a trailer and would be breaking his lease so that he could move into the trailerMr*** was told, because he was breaking his lease he would have to pay the reletting fee of $which he did payWe can understand that Mr*** was not happy as it did take several calls to have the AC working, and we were short handed and we did have to have an outside company come in to make the repairs, Mr*** lease under paragraph states air conditioning problems are normally not emergencies, but we will work diligently to have it repaired, which we did.Mr*** did make an attempt to clean the apartment upon his move out, but there were charges, his refrigerator, stove, and dish washer had to be replaced because the doors were completely covered with rust, the apartment smelled of pet and extra work was required to have this apartment made ready for a new move in.Mr*** signed a lease that states if he breaks his lease he will be responsible for the reletting fee which he paid, so it will not be refunded back to him, his lease also states that he will be charged if the apartment is not cleaned adequatelyMr*** paid the $which were due in order to clear him of any charges owed to High Key and we have finalized his vacateWe hope this answers all the questions posed by Mr*** complaint and you find we are completely acting within the signed TAA Lease, Sincerely *** *** Manager
