The purpose of this letter is to relate an experience I just had with Sterling Hyundai located at Johnston Street, Lafayette, LAI own a Hyundai Equus that I purchased from another dealer but with Sterling being the only authorized dealer in my immediate area I am almost obligated to use their service department, to my utter chagrin I purchased an extended warranty on this automobile, again from different dealer, that was good bumper to bumper up to 100,milesI realized last week that I was almost completed past my warranty, so close in fact when I arrived at Sterling my mileage was 99,I approached the service department and made them aware of my situation, whereby they informed that they could not take the car that dayI inquired could I set out the problems and bring it back at a later dateAfter, conferring with someone, I assume the service manager, the man I was dealing with said OK, but he would have to take a picture of my speedometer, which he didHe then said for me to bring it in on Wednesday 6th of JulyHe never once told me that it was imperative that I have it there on that date or they wouldn't recognize my warrantyAs life can be on this planet, something came up and I was unable to bring the car in on the 6thI took the car in to the dealership this morning and was immediately informed that they could not honor the warranty because I wasn't there on the 6thI would question if there was going to be an issue, why did they not keep the car when I brought it in under warranty and give me a loaner like I am supposed to get by owning an EquusNo one even hinted that it might be a problemI might have been inclined to ignore this incident if it was an isolated one, but quite the contrary I had a blowout on bridge and had to drive on rim for a few milesIt completely destroyed some of the electronics under the front left wheelThe damage was significantI took the car into Sterling and after much too long a delay and one person there unbelievably telling me " we are a small dealership and really not equipped to handle something like this" they finally repaired itAgain, no one mentioned that I should have got a loaner as an Equus owner In summary, the Hyundai Equus is a fine product, but I have found the service department at Sterling completely unsatisfactory and unprofessionalYou never know who you are dealing with as the personnel constantly changesFinally, I would respectfully submit to anyone considering buying the Hyundai product; if you are going to have to deal with the service department at Sterling, to look elsewhere

The purpose of this letter is to relate an experience I just had with Sterling Hyundai located at 5001 Johnston Street, Lafayette, LA. I own a 2011 Hyundai Equus that I purchased from another dealer but with Sterling being the only authorized dealer in my immediate area I am almost obligated to use their service department, to my utter chagrin.
I purchased an extended warranty on this automobile, again from different dealer, that was good bumper to bumper up to 100,000 miles. I realized last week that I was almost completed past my warranty, so close in fact when I arrived at Sterling my mileage was 99,998. I approached the service department and made them aware of my situation, whereby they informed that they could not take the car that day. I inquired could I set out the problems and bring it back at a later date. After, conferring with someone, I assume the service manager, the man I was dealing with said OK, but he would have to take a picture of my speedometer, which he did. He then said for me to bring it in on Wednesday 6th of July. He never once told me that it was imperative that I have it there on that date or they wouldn't recognize my warranty. As life can be on this planet, something came up and I was unable to bring the car in on the 6th. I took the car in to the dealership this morning and was immediately informed that they could not honor the warranty because I wasn't there on the 6th. I would question if there was going to be an issue, why did they not keep the car when I brought it in under warranty and give me a loaner like I am supposed to get by owning an Equus. No one even hinted that it might be a problem. I might have been inclined to ignore this incident if it was an isolated one, but quite the contrary.
I had a blowout on bridge and had to drive on rim for a few miles. It completely destroyed some of the electronics under the front left wheel. The damage was significant. I took the car into Sterling and after much too long a delay and one person there unbelievably telling me " we are a small dealership and really not equipped to handle something like this" they finally repaired it. Again, no one mentioned that I should have got a loaner as an Equus owner.
In summary, the Hyundai Equus is a fine product, but I have found the service department at Sterling completely unsatisfactory and unprofessional. You never know who you are dealing with as the personnel constantly changes. Finally, I would respectfully submit to anyone considering buying the Hyundai product; if you are going to have to deal with the service department at Sterling, to look elsewhere.
