Promised 2 wk install, and after cashing deposit, said 4 to 6 wks. no refund deposit, price gouging. Roughly $*** in materials and $*** in install.

Job # XXXXX
Company Rep: ***
Sch. Amount: ***

I dealt directly with ***, who came to my house. When he was done looking around after about 45 minutes he gave me an estimate for $*** and change to install a generator and an extra $*** and change for to 120 gallon propane tanks installed.

I gave him $*** deposit and he promised that me it would be done in two weeks.

The next day after they cashed the deposit check someone called the mother of my children and told her it was going to be 4 to 6 weeks but that they would try to do us a favor and get it done in three.

I told them that that didn't work for me that I didn't negotiate the price which I believed to to have been grossly inflated and so I'm not going to negotiate the time that was promised. Instead of calling me to work it out or at the very least apologize and return the deposit. *** never bothered to apologize or offer to work it out BUT kept the deposit....

I checked the unit that they were selling me a 27 kW Generac generator, on Generac's website is $***. Then they needed another part (for sale at Home Depot for $*** that was a 400 amp 120/240 V single phase no breaker) And to load shell modules for 120 bucks each.

That's under ***.

They charged me over $*** for this?

*** to install a generator?

Dealing with Another company I was told by the owner that a 27 kW generator is commercial grade and that 22 kW generators are used for 10,000 square-foot homes... I have a 3500 square-foot home, so I guess I was upsold in addition to the price gouging because evidently that wasn't enough.

The difference in the two units was $***.

Oh and remember the $*** for the two 120 gallon propane tanks?

$419 each... That's for 200 gallon propane tanks so I assume 120 gallon propane tanks will be cheaper.

Does it really cost $*** to install two propane tanks?

Desired Outcome

1) I want my $*** deposit returned. 2) I want an apology, because the owner came to my house on Oct. 29, 2019, and personally promised ME that he could have everything installed in 2 weeks, which is why I gave him a deposit. Only after cashing the deposit, did they call, NOT ME, but the mother of my children to renegotiate the time of the install. When I told them that this did not work for me, instead of calling me to apologize or work it out, they just dropped me like a scab, kept my deposit, and moved on misrepresenting and gouging others in Malibu, who are dealing with these forced blackouts. This is illegal, and currently being dealt with. 3) I don't want them to price gouge or exploit anyone else in the Malibu community, or any other community, after these national disasters and fires. After their intentional misrepresentations regarding installation, should someone else have the temerity to question the professionalism in that, I would like to prevent others from having their deposits stolen as well.

Good afternoon ***,

I am sorry to hear your experience with our company didn't match your expectations. I can assure you we are committed to amending the problem and giving you the most transparent/fair estimate we can give when installing a standby generator. Our proposals cover everything from the generator itself, the transfer switch, propane tanks, all the plumbing and electrical equipment/parts involved, as well as manpower.

A refund was issued on Friday 11/1 to the original for of payment provided so you will be receiving it shortly.

Thank you and I look forward to resolving this issue.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Thank you ***,

Based on the response from the company,

"I'm sorry your experience with our company didn't match your expectations".

is not an apology. A sincere apology would sound something like:

"I'm sorry that I told you it was going to take two weeks to install a generator that was going to take 4 to 6 weeks to install.

I dropped the ball, it was my mistake, I'm sorry you relied on it and you may be without power with two small children as a result of my mistake and I'm sorry I couldn't make a simple phone call to you to work it out."

But the apology posted is reprehensible and shows that they don't care.

Furthermore I still don't understand how under $*** worth of product costs roughly $*** to install... That I don't get at all? Just four days after our governor issues a state of emergency?

That feels like price gouging to me, especially when their Twitter feed shows them advertising the Woolsey Canyon fire among others... Yes I have a screenshot.

Lastly, today's November 5th, Four days after they said they sent my deposit check back to me, I have not received it... We're about 25-30 miles away from each other so how is it that I don't have that check yet if they sent it on the first?

So to recap, all I asked for was an apology and a refund and I got neither but I'm glad that they are committed?

- We issued the $*** deposit check immediately after your request on Friday 11/1 so the speed of the arrival of the check depends entirely on Fedex.

- The CEO of our company Lenny called today 11/6 to explain and apologize for the miscommunication. It was an honest mistake of misinformation as we have been extremely busy scheduling installs due to the fires and they have been stacking up very quickly as you can understand. Our responses on reviews are not considered formal apologies until we can determine all the facts and determine what we can do for the client to resolve the situation.

- Our Twitter page is strictly information based. Most to all of our clients/followers live in areas which are prone to fire damage as they are often dry, windy areas of Southern California. Notifying them as soon as we are made aware is our top priority during wildfires as both our clients and employees have homes that may be in danger.

- In regards to our pricing and install quotes, we DO NOT and NEVER HAVE increased our pricing during a State of Emergency or when there are active wildfires if that is what you are presuming, that would be completely unethical business practice. Quite a lot goes into our installs, which people who are not familiar with our process sometimes don't understand, in terms of the generator, the automatic transfer switch, electrical and plumbing equipment (which can add up), planning and manpower. Everything is in house in terms of electrical, plumbing, and general contractors licenses which make it easier on the client.

I hope that I have explained everything as efficiently as I can and hope to resolve this issue and put it behind us.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
It is November 6th, and I've received today's mail and I do not have a check from you returning my deposit.

Moreover, it doesn't take five days for FedEx to deliver an envelope, 30-ish miles away.

As for the apology:

"It was an honest mistake of misinformation as we have been extremely busy scheduling installs due to the fires and they have been stacking up very quickly as you can understand."

This is an explanation or an excuse not an apology and I wish someone could explain to me what an honest mistake of misinformation means?

The money hasn't been sent for the same reason that they can't make an apology... Doing either would have required humility.

Lastly, there is ZERO justification for purchasing less than $*** worth of product and being charged $***, four days after the governor declared a state of emergency.

I also called Generac personally and spoke to their online service person and asked what the most expensive install they've ever heard of was and she said I think just over $*** but it was very very complicated.

The Twitter advertising speaks for itself.

Knowledgeable, communicative, efficient, and reasonably-priced. A potential nightmare project took less than the planned 3 days and went perfectly. LTG has been there, done that on even the most unusual and complicated elements.

From start to finish, the sales team, office staff and installation crew were extremely professional, helpful and careful. I'm very pleased with their effort and installation process. They were very experienced and worked neatly as well.

Thanks Mark. Our installs are very efficient with all the planning we do and with all the people involved. Thank you for being such a great host!

Top to bottom a class act.
The installation crew,excellent.
Very refreshing to see a group of young men working together in a very professional manner. Not something you see often anymore. Would have been elated to have this group as employees working for my construction company before I retired.

Thanks for the great review Randy! The guys on our crew have been installing generators for a long time now and they all work together very well! Please feel free to reach out if you need anything.

L.T. Generators did a fast, clean job of installing my home generator and propane tank. Everyone I dealt with from installers to office staff were polite, responsive and clearly devoted to keeping the customer happy. A minor problem arose after the installation with regard to a component of the generator, but L.T. Generators had a technician at my home each day until the problem was resolved and the system was up and running. It is easy to give good service when everything goes right without a hitch, but it takes an excellent organization with good customer service values to come through when there is a problem. I would certainly recommend them to anyone considering the purchase of a home standby generator.

LT Generators installed a 22kw rooftop generator for my brand new construction home in LA. From start to finish... design, coordinating with my GC, permitting, install, setup, testing, they were totally professional, very experienced and quick to respond to any questions. Could not be happier and would highly recommend!

Thank you for the review Daniel! We are constantly improving and striving for 5 star service and always appreciate it when we achieve 5 stars with an installation! Keep us in mind when you tell your friends about us!

I came home last night to a blacked out neighborhood, except for my house which was fully functional due to the LT generator installed last summer. I was euphoric! I cannot tell you how happy I am with the install!

Thank you for such a great review Laura! The winds have been really strong lately and have been taking a toll on the powerlines. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions and enjoy your emergency power!

My experience with LTGenerators was more than I could have hoped for. Not only did they do a great job installing the generator but I was having a noise issue with my pool equipment and Lenny showed up with acoustical panels and solved the problem immediately.
My husband has health issues and I was afraid to be even a day without power let alone an extended period of time. I feel very relieved to have followed through and LTGenerators made the experience effortless.

It was a pleasure working with you Jo! Thank you for the great review and we are glad to have solved your sound problem as well as provide you with emergency power. If you need anything feel free to reach out and we will get to you as quick as possible!

During the heavy rains, there were a couple of electrical outages that I was completely unaware of because the generator kicked in and everything just kept running.
I only realized later when I went outside, heard the generator running and saw the neighbor's dark house.
There have been outages when we were out of town and my elderly mom was home alone and she never knew about them. She just reported that that "some of the clocks were wrong"
I actually don't know how long the generator was running, but the internet, lights, phones, alarm system - none of them even blinked.
Thank you LT Generators so much for the great service. Best investment I ever made in my home.

Thank you for the great review and what a great story! We are very pleased to hear that the generator worked properly without a hitch and that's what we always strive for. Please reach out to us if you need anything else!

We were meeting with LT Generators at their corporate headquarters to discuss some generator options, and it was an easy sale because when we were there, there was a power outage in the area. Within 10 seconds, their generator went on and power never went off in the building. The entire block didn't have power except at their office. It was a pretty eye opening experience to know having a generator really does keep the lights on, especially with how many power outages have happened so far this year in the Southern California area. Now I really know that I need a generator, so a power outage won't interrupt my business, lifestyle and inconvenience me during times when I need power the most. In working with LT Generators so far, it has been an amazing experience because they are professional, knowledgeable and take the time to educate you on your needs. I highly recommend them.

Thanks for the review Brittney! That was pretty great timing that you were able to stop in when that power outage hit us and our generator kicked on without a hitch. Please feel free to reach out if you need anything else from us!

I used LT Generators at two homes in SoCal over past ten years. Dependable, smart, professional, accommodating and responsive. Their work crew is first rate and their products have perfomed faithfully. They are on top of service and maintenance when needed. Pricing is competitive and realistic Its not often you get an electrician in for something else who looks at their panel and equipment and says "this is some great job!" . I recommend them without hesitation.
