On Oct15th [redacted] brought his Landcuiser with 300,miles to LTS for an abnoise in 4th gearWe test drove the vehicle and verified there was abbearing noise from the transmissionThe land cruiser engine had been replaced with a chevy engine and there was an aftermarket adapter that allowed the chevy engine to attach to the toyota transmissionWe advised the customer we could repair the toyota transmissionDuring the repair we recommended a new clutch because the clutch had to be removed when the transmission was removed and there would be no additional labor chargeThe customer had no information on the adapter or what type of clutch it usedAfter many days of research we found a chevy clutch that matched the early style aftermaket adapter kitWe overhauled the transmission, installed a new clutch, and the vehicle shifted and operated great [redacted] returned a year later and the clutch was jerking when first starting outWe replaced the clutch kit at no cost as a courtesy because it was not the original concern and was part of the aftermarket kit [redacted] then returned months later and the clutch was difficult to depress witch made it difficult to shiftWe could have adjusted the clutch pedal but this would simulate riding the clutch and would wear the clutch out prematurlyWe recommended a newer version of adapter for a better clutch operationAdvance adapters have improved the components of the adapter, but [redacted] had the clucth adjusted at another shop and asked for reimbursement for the adjustmentWe do not feel the adjustment is the correct long term fix and we do not feel responsible for the adjustment becuase the original concern was an abnoise in the transmissionThe correct repair is replacement of the adapter kit.-- Thank you,LTS Motors, your Lexus and Toyota Specialists

On Oct. 15th 2013 ** brought his 1987 Landcuiser with 300,400 miles to LTS for an abnormal noise in 4th gear. We test drove the vehicle and verified there was abnormal bearing noise from the transmission. The land cruiser engine had been replaced with a chevy engine and there was an aftermarket...

adapter that allowed the chevy engine to attach to the toyota transmission. We advised the customer we could repair the toyota transmission. During the repair we recommended a new clutch because the clutch had to be removed when the transmission was removed and there would be no additional labor charge. The customer had no information on the adapter or what type of clutch it used. After many days of research we found a chevy clutch that matched the early style aftermaket adapter kit. We overhauled the transmission, installed a new clutch, and the vehicle shifted and operated great. ** returned a year later and the clutch was jerking when first starting out. We replaced the clutch kit at no cost as a courtesy because it was not the original concern and was part of the aftermarket kit. ** then returned 5 months later and the clutch was difficult to depress witch made it difficult to shift. We could have adjusted the clutch pedal but this would simulate riding the clutch and would wear the clutch out prematurly. We recommended a newer version of adapter for a better clutch operation. Advance adapters have improved the components of the adapter, but ** had the clucth adjusted at another shop and asked for reimbursement for the adjustment. We do not feel the adjustment is the correct long term fix and we do not feel responsible for the adjustment becuase the original concern was an abnormal noise in the transmission. The correct repair is replacement of the adapter kit.-- Thank you,LTS Motors, your Lexus and Toyota Specialists
