As discussed and fully explained to members of the *** family, the Registry of Motor Vehicles has established a formal investigation process for motorists to “challenge” their inspection results. We, as a Licensed Inspection Station, are required to follow the Registry of Motor
Vehicle’s regulations. With regard to Mr***’s individual inspection, we feel strongly that our safety inspection was done accurately and when we invited him to bring back the car to confirm our results in front of him, he refused.If Mr*** believes the inspection results are incorrect, he can initiate the investigation by downloading an Inspection Station Complaint Form and mailing or faxing it to the RMV's Vehicle Safety and Compliance Services Department(The form can also be obtained by calling ***.) During the investigation the vehicle will still carry the Rejection stickerUltimately, if the vehicle passes a challenge inspection or the initial inspection station is found to be in error, that initial inspection station will provide the motorist with the Passing stickerIf the vehicle fails the challenge inspection, the motorist will be charged an additional $inspection fee and will be required to make the necessary repairs before getting a Passing stickerAs we informed Mr***, it is against RMV to regulation and procedure to refund state fees without following the above process. By design, Lucchetti’s inspection station is physically separated from our service center options to never pressure customers to perform repairs at our center. Furthermore, no licensed inspector is allowed to sell or promote repairs by Massachusetts law
