Dear Revdex.com, Thank you for the opportunity to respond to...

complaint # [redacted]. The facts as outlined in the complaint filed by [redacted] are misrepresented and false. She states that I left for vacation and did not notify them. Her husband [redacted] was my main contact during the remodel and I advised him on July 14, 2017 that I would be out of town for vacation. Here is a copy of a text that I sent to him prior to my departure. `` Yes. I will be out of town part of the week. I am Heading to Florida for my dads 90th BIRTHDAY. I could have Julio pick it up or you can give it to me tomorrow and I will hold it until you tell me it os OK to deposit it. Whatever works for you`` [redacted] also states that my business license is expired. The project is located in Eagle County and the Building Department does not require contractor licensing. My state license is not expired. Her accusation that I `` Fled `` due to having an expired license is ridiculous. I left the project upon the owners request when [redacted] advised me they were going in a new direction and no longer needed my services. The [redacted] moved into their house prior to the remodeling project being complete. The wiring, plumbing, painting and kitchen among other items were not finished. I believe moving into the house at this time disrupted the flow of work and contributed to the [redacted] frustration with the project. On July 19th I received a series of email from [redacted] titled the `` Money Pit`` Her referral to the project as the money pit lends me to believe the [redacted] were even more frustrated with the project due to financial concerns though my work was under budget and all change orders had been approved. I am not aware of the expenses for the items that they supplied to the project. In her emails she threatened hiring a lawyer, stopping draw payments and her concern of the work progress. I don`t think she was taking into account reasons for the project delays. I was told the [redacted] would supply the building permit and it would be issued in January, 2017. The building permit was not issued until April 25, 2017.  The numerous change orders and structural plan revisions based on their ever changing design ideas and lack of understanding of the building plans contributed to the delay of the project. [redacted] states that work had to be done more than once to get them correct. Yes that is true. Here are examples: AC installed in kitchen and location of AC unit was discussed and approved prior to installation. When [redacted] saw the location she wanted it moved after she approved the first location. The unit was relocated. The installation and location of front entrance windows and doors were changed upon the owners approval from the original plans and once they were installed they asked to have them moved again. This involved two revisions to the structural plans. The front entrance roof line was changed upon the owners approval from the original plans and once the roof was done they asked to have the roof line changed. This involved two revisions to the structural plans. There were many instances where the owners approved changes to the original plans and in some instances made additional changes after the work had been completed. Changes from original plans:Window and door schedule completely changed along with window location.Location of beams in ceiling changed  (living room beams and dining room beams moved twice)Modifications to framing of foyer, master bedroom ceiling and parlor, changes  required structural revisionsThe lists goes on and on. [redacted] points out that the project was left in a mess. When I received the emails from [redacted] stating her frustrations, threats of hiring a lawyer, stopping payment and considering hiring a new contractor I notified all the sub contractor of her threats and advised them of the situation. Work halted at the project, The dumpster located in the driveway was full and needed to be picked up. Due to the work stoppage, the trash in the dumpster blew around the yard and contributed to the mess at the project. Once [redacted] and I talked and I thought we had resolved the problem I sent two men to clean up the yard and had the dumpster emptied. I also advised all sub-contractors that I had resolved the problem with the [redacted] and they should return to work. The following week [redacted] advised me that they had decided to move in a new direction and no longer needed my services and that the draw check they had sent was canceled and void. If [redacted] would have contacted me to discuss the situation rather that sending threats I believe the situation would not have deteriorated to where it is now. My conversations with [redacted] have been professional and courtesies but [redacted] is too impulsive and emotional to have a rational conversation. I am not sure what information [redacted] has relayed to [redacted] regarding our phone conversations. I again state my position that the items presented in complaint # [redacted] are false and a misrepresentation of the facts. Sincerely, Matt  Matthew M[redacted]
