Lucy's Cleaning, Inc.

Review: There are a few issues. First, the cleaners were unable to follow instructions and create damages along the way. As I work full time and they prefer to come and clean while I'm at work, I usually leave a check, they have a copy of my key, and let themselves in, clean, and leave before I come home. I explicitly instructed them not to walk on my white carpet with their showes when I first entered the cleaning contract. I have bought them booties for this purpose. One day I came home early and found them cleaning, and also found one of the cleaning persons walking all over my white carpet with her shoes on. I freaked out and told them to clean up after themselves. Second, they could not come every three weeks as promised. As of late, services were offered once every four weeks instead of three because they couldn't schedule me in. Third, they pose serious safety hazards. The keys she has is the key to the condo building as well as the key to my unit. I am a single woman living alone and have no one to wait around at home for deliveries. Last night, I instructed them to clean under the bed as some cat litter was all over the floor underneath the bed. When I got home at 9 pm, and couldn't find the pole that pulls my shades, I looked for it under the bed, and so happened to find out that they didn't clean under the bed. So, I texted [redacted], the manager, and said could you please come by and clean that area tommorrow. All communications last night took place over text (in fact, 99% of all communications with [redacted] took place over texts during the 1 year of service I received from Lucy's). She started telling me over text that I didn't tell her to clean under the bed, and we argued over the text (which said under bed--how much clearer could it get). She kept telling me that I was unclear in my statement, and I told her that she should have asked if she didn't understand what bed meant (she's a native speaker of English). She then proceeded to tell me to "find another cleaning service" at around 9:30 pm. I said fine, return my keys by 8:30 am tomorrow before I leave for work, and give me back some money for the portion of the work that she did not complete. She said she can't come at 8:30 am, only later, maybe at 9 am (after she was told that I would be at work already) or a few days later. As she was starting to get hostile, I wanted to get my keys back ASAP for safety reasons. I said that she could return my key tonight then, and she said no way. She continued to get more and more hostile so I said I would be calling the police if she doesn't agree to return my keys ASAP. And she responded by telling me to stop texting, that she will call the police (I don't know for what). I sent the last text saying that I want her to return the keys to me by 8:30 am tomorrow. I ended up calling the DC police department, and discussed the matter with him. The police officers said to call her number in their presence so that the officers could talk to her. I called her in the presence of the police officers and she did not answer the phone, so I left her a message that the police officers want to talk to her. As of this morning (Oct 31), she did not show up at 8:30 am to return the keys, nor did she tell me when she would be returning my condo and unit keys to me.Desired Settlement: I would like $50 back for the undelivered service plus the time expended on this matter, and would like an immediate deliver of my house keys in person.
