I have both published and bought through them, awesome company!

I bought my book on lulu.com, and the website said that I had no units sold. I never received payment for the book I published. On February 5, 2012, I published a book. I purchased that book about a year later and saw that my user account was not credited any money. I was supposed to receive a few dollars for every book sold. I am not sure how many books have sold. I have since pulled the book.Desired SettlementAny money I have earned from my book, [redacted]Business Response /[redacted]/Hi [redacted],I'm sorry for the confusion on revenue earned from your book sales. Please understand that when you purchase your own book - you purchase it at the manufacturers price and therefore, no royalty revenue is generated. You see those purchases show up in your Lulu account as $0.00 revenue. Any sales that occur show up in your account with the generated revenue that you set up. If you would like to email me, I'd be happy to go into your account and show you where that information is located.Warm regards[redacted] Customer Support.[redacted]@lulu.com

We replied to your letter dated September 10, 2015 via email on October 8, 2015. However, the email address was not working. We will mail the formal reply to you today. The original request to retire your book did not result in removal from the retailers. There was an error in the system that did not generate the request to remove. Since your letter, the request to remove the book from distribution was sent. Retailers such as Amazon can take 6 to 8 weeks to remove the content in question. If you continue to see the book for sale after November 23, 2015 please do let us know. You did receive royalty checks for your sales that were cashed. We will include these details in our mailed reply.Thank you again for letting us know you have not received our original reply.

My 6 year old son "wrote" an "Illustory" book. We have been attempting to receive our corrected book for over four months now. Our first book came with many Student Publishing printed errors including my son's name spelled incorrectly as well as NO printed text. We were assured these Student Publishing errors would be corrected and we would receive our new book within 2-3 weeks. That was four months ago. We have not yet obtained our book. We have tried in vain to correspond w/ Student Publishing (we get response emails from LuLu Jr.??). We have been told repeatedly via email (we have kept all the emails) that our corrected book is coming. Nothing has come and as of recently (since mentioning that I was going to contact the Revdex.com as well as the FTC), they are no longer responding to our emails. :(Product_Or_Service: printed bookDesired SettlementWe would like a CORRECTED copy of the book my son submitted. If a copy is not obtainable, we are requesting his original work (on paper) be sent back to us. Business Response /[redacted]/Our apologies for the negative experience and long wait times. We underwent a massive organizational change that impacted our ability to reply to customer inquiries in a timely manner. At this time, we have completed the reorder with correction and delivered the final book to Mrs. [redacted]. If there is anything else we can do, please let me know.Regards,[redacted]Lulu Jr Customer RepresentativeConsumer Response /[redacted]/I truly believe if it wasn't for the Revdex.com, we would have never seen resolve to our almost FOUR month long struggle to get a copy of our son's book. (supposed to take roughly 6 weeks) The company has sent us a new kit to 'try again' as well as an ALMOST corrected copy of my son's book. (This time there is no front cover art work.) The contact person at LuLu Press, Inc. has promised me my son's original art work back as well as a fully corrected version (maybe third time will be a charm?) version of his 'book'. Thus far, we are still waiting for those two promised items.....Final Business Response /[redacted]/Thank you for reporting. We sent a corrected copy to the printer for delivery.Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/I received, just yesterday, in the mail, two copies of my son's bookBOTH WERE STILL MISSING THE SAME MATERIAL AS THE LAST BOOK THEY SENT. There is NO COVER ART on either of the two books we just received. IT IS STILL BLANK!!! The very first book they sent us actually had the cover art but NO TEXT and his last name was spelled INCORRECTLY as well on that version. So, thus far, we have NEVER RECEIVED ONE correct copy of my son's book. NOT ONE. We were promised (I have it in writing), his original artwork back. We have never received that either. So to be completely clear (if I haven't been already), we have four incomplete, incorrect, and misspelled versions of this product. We would happily return ALL FOUR to them (at their expense) in exchange for either my son's original artwork or ONE FULLY CORRECT, ALL INCLUSIVE version!! That would mean his artwork (including cover!) and his text. This is all we have been requesting for over five months now. This is what this company is in business to do. We do not understand WHY we cannot get this product sent to us!

I'm an author & published my Ebook on Lulu & wanted it deleted. I closed my account with Lulu and I see my ebook is still published. I Want it deletedI'm an author & published my Ebook on Lulu & wanted it deleted in December 2014. I contacted them this year by email and they said it would be retired in 2-4 weeks, which it wasn't.Frustrated, I decided if they wouldn't follow through, I'd at least make the book a higher price. This made it publish a 2nd. time in July 2015. Then I heard from a friend who said she simply deleted her account and they would have to unpublish the book.I closed my account with Lulu July 13th, 2015 and I see my ebook is still published. I want it deleted thru all their channels of distribution.I have tried to email and call them several times. The phone goes to voicemail and they never return my call. Emails get a ticket number but are not followed through or closed.I simply want my ebook: [redacted] A [redacted] to be deleted. Some places, it's even published twice now: https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/copyright/idXXXXXXXXX?mt=11ISBN #: XXX-X-XXX-XXXXX-XISBN # XXX-X-XXX-XXXXX-XI realize that I may have played a part in July when it was republished. If the company would only respond to me or be available to contact by phone, we could resolve this issue. And what would happen if one of the books sells? How will I know? How will I get paid? What do they do with the money? They have to be accountable and available to answer any and all of those questions and they are not. I tried to log into my account when it was deleted and they rejected me.Please have them contact me and have the 2 versions of [redacted] A [redacted] be deleted. Thank you.Desired SettlementI wish for the 2 versions of [redacted] A [redacted] Ebook be deleted from all channels of distributions. You can also respond to your Lulu Case Number XXXXXXXX - I have emailed you there also. Our distribution team is manually removing your eBook from distribution. It did not automatically "delete" when you cancelled your account and we're not quite sure why. But I am happy to talk to you so we can get all of this resolved. I mailed 2 Illustories on 1/21/14 and have not received them. I mailed 2 Illustories on 1/21/14 and have not received them. I contacted the company and heard back on 3/25/14 that they had my orders and would be back in touch soon with a status. Since then, I have heard nothing back from the company despite further emails requesting information. The company response also told me that current ship time was 6-8 weeks. It has currently been 13 weeks since I mailed these books to be printed. I have bought Illustories for my children for years now and have never had a problem before. I have been very disappointed in my experience this year and simply want to receive the printed books that I paid for and that my children worked hard to create.Desired SettlementTo receive the printed books that I paid for and that my children worked hard to create.Business Response /[redacted]/Thank you very much for the details and opportunity to provide a corrected product. During our transition we experienced delays in fulfillment and response times that are not acceptable. We are working hard to improve our service offerings.[redacted]'s books are in the queue and should be shipped out shortly. She is in touch with our team on a regular basis who is providing frequent updates. Once the books are received, our hopes her children are delighted with the end result. Our sincerest apologies for the delay. We do very much appreciate your business, and the opportunity to make it right.Consumer Response /[redacted]/I received my books! Thanks Revdex.com for helping make it happen! I sincerely hope that this company is able to resolve its fulfillment issues going forward as the product is a favorite of ours!Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/

Publishing books is completely easy and most of all it's creativity is amazing as I've published 101 books there myself and sold 3 copies in just the last 4 months. Great accreditation to Revdex.com for helping me find them and now my online book store is a reality just like I always dreamed of. god bless you! for being there for everyone.

Wait time for product was advertised as 4 weeks. Took over 12 weeks to arrive w/ no response from customer service. Finally arrived defective.I purchased an "Illustory" children's book publishing kit this past holiday. My 6 year old son worked diligently to create his book and we submitted it to be printed & bound around March 15th, 2014. Wait time was advertised as 4 weeks maximum. At about 2-3 weeks my credit card was charged for the second copy of the book I was ordering (first copy is free with purchase of kit). On May 5th I began reaching out to Lulu, Jr multiple times via email (there is no customer service contact number provided ANYWHERE) with no response. On May 10th I was finally responded to saying my books had shipped that day. On May 15th my 2 books finally arrived but looked absolutely AWFUL and were riddled with serious design and production errors. I cannot give final product to my son as he will be confused and dissapointed.Desired SettlementI would like two corrected replacement books IMMEDIATELY as well as a full refund for the 2nd cooy as repayment for the absolute nightmare this seemingly fun experience has become. Business Response /[redacted]/Thank you for letting us know about your issues. We are very interested in providing a replacement book with all corrections. At this time, ee have corrected the book and it is currently being printed. It should mail out later this week. Please let us know if there are any other issues that need our attention. Thank you for your business and your patience with us.Consumer Response /[redacted]/I have not yet received product as promised when the company responded to Revdex.com on 5/21. [redacted]Business Response /[redacted]/Thank you for the update. The order was delivered via FedEx on Friday 6/6/2014. Please let us know if there are any further issues with the book that need to be corrected. Consumer Response /[redacted]/(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)I am absolutely NOT completely happy with the flawed finished product, but quite honestly, after 3+ months of deing with this, I have no more fire in me to fight for any additional corrections. Despite their efforts to resolve this, overall dealing with Lulu, Jr. has been an absolute time vacuuming nightmare and I will never buy one of their products again.

Not receiving product ordered after waiting 3 monothsOn June 6, 2015, I ordered 3 copies of a book my child had written that was processed through Lulu Jr. I was assigned order XXXXXX. I had not received the books yet by August 28th and called them. After 2 days, I got a return call. Appears my order was "lost" in a computer glitch (after having paid) and they'd done nothing about it. The person assigned me a new order number and assured me the order would arrive in two weeks. As of today, 9/21, it is not here. I called Lulu Jr again last Friday, 9/18 and was told their records show it shipped but they could not locate the tracking number. I was to be called later Friday with the number. I did NOT get a call. Terrible service here. Still have no idea what's up with the books and the event I'd wanted them for is LONG gone!Desired SettlementI want them shipped 1 day shipping with tracking number provided to me even if they have to re-print them. I would also request a partial billing credit for the abnormally long wait and lackluster attitude of the company towards correcting the issue.Business Response /[redacted]/Contact Name and Title: [redacted], DirectorContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]@lulujr.comThank you for reporting this issue. Mr. [redacted]'s order was impacted by a bug in our software that prevented the order from being completed in a timely manner. The order was never sent to be printed. Once corrected, the book was created and shipped out in early September. However, this order ended up lost in the mail. A terrible situation. The reorder was complete and shipped out this week. Most orders are completed in 3 to 4 weeks after receipt of the kit. We sincerely apologize for the delay and lack of support for Mr. [redacted].

Regarding EPUB conversion of my 7 books undergoing final preparation, the business charges $800 per book and deliberately blocks author self-prep.The author, a skilled experienced typesetter/word processor, has submitted electronically online [redacted] a [redacted] with [redacted] and various other books to be made into EPUBs and accepted by the [redacted] Based on technical guideline rejections which seem spurious and arbitrary, which cannot be overcome by the author, the business seems to be attempting to extort $800 per book out of the author in order to make successful EPUB conversion through use of an internal LULU.com computer operator. The books have been revised and resubmitted about three times each. The business claims finally that something is technically wrong with the first line of the document. The author cannot ascertain the error she made. Using guidelines provided by the firm which appear to be automated and very vague, the author, although repeatedly attempting to comply with correct actions, cannot gain epub conversion for her books, eliminating access to the extensive worldwide EPUB marketplace for literary works. This bottleneck serves as de facto censorship through technicality, not content. The business serves to gain on average $4-$5 per book for every EPUB sold on the internet. It is therefore in Lulu's best interest to push through the files into EPUB conversion through the help of an internal computer operator. However, the company refuses. The author suspects discrimination, bribery or some other deliberate delay to extort an inordinately high fee to make the EPUB version of each of her books. To sell the books as EPUBS represents a significant source of income for this author. She is elderly, poor, and suffering from a legal disability for which she receives a benefit which she lives on. She sees no other option other than LULU.com for the success of her properties which, in pdf form, are about 20 books sold at her storefront at: [redacted]. Previous relationship with the business for 11 years approximately has been very satisfactory prior to this. The consumer gives Lulu.com approximately $200 worth of printing business annually. If the EPUBs were successful, the author believes profit to LULU Press from the sale of her books would rise steeply to thousands of dollars. The technical bottleneck for the EPUB cycle appears to provide an opportunity for the business to make big bucks based on a non-genuine problem. The technical problem " * Your title should be the very first line of your document, with no blank lines or images above it, styled as Heading 1, to replace the broken link in your NCX. Style text as Heading 1 by selecting the text, then clicking "Heading 1" in the style toolbar. (example) is not real. The author feels she is being denied the right to EPUB convert on the Lulu.com website. She suspects it is a form of extortion.Desired SettlementI want Lulu.com to push through and successfully complete on their end the conversion of my books as chosen, formatted correctly and submitted repeatedly by this author to EPUB conversions, saleable and marketable via Lulu at its website and the author's storefront, [redacted] through [redacted] on the WWW via [redacted], [redacted], and all the other distributors which use Lulu's customized Global Distribution system.Business Response Lulu Customer Service is working directly with Ms. [redacted] on completing her ebook projects without the need for a paid-for service. We apologize for the confusion and are happy to continue assisting via our self-publishing model. Ms. [redacted] has several open cases with the team and we are committed to helping her successfully complete her publishing projects.

I want to cancel an order but I cant.I wanted to cancel my order after 2 hours but I could not. I called them and they said in the "cart" section of the ordering area that it states orders cant be canceled after an hour. But it is not true. I cant find where it states that. A hard cover book takes 6-8 days to print. It has not been printed but why cant I cancel it?Desired SettlementRefund. Clearly state the Policies. A 1 hour window is not enough time it should be longer.More Info Received From Consumer (2015/12/30)There is not reference to orders can not be canceled after 1 hour. I finally found one in the FAQs section. This is very deceptive and I now feel I should get three he refund for this deceptive practice. I was told by the help line the 1 hour policy was listed on the ordering section. This is also a lie. If lulu printed their own books this would not be a problem.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted], DirectorContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]@lulu.comLulu Press is a print-on-demand company that prints books and calendars after an order is placed. We allow a 1 hour cancellation period before sending the order for fulfillment. Although it may take a few days for an order to print, once the order is sent it cannot be canceled. The cancellation policy is on our site, although not displayed prominently. We will review better placement of our cancellation policy.Consumer Response If I ordered the exact book from Amazon I could have canceled my order after the 1 hour period that lulu claims is their cut off. If the book was printed in house the cancellation period could and would be longer. Yes the cancellation policy is not displayed prominently. In fact it is in subsection of a FAQ link and I did not find it within the terms and conditions. I felt there was some deception as there is no mention of the policy in the T&C or a link/note to have the customer to read the FAQ section. I would be happy if the policies were better displayed on the website so as a customer I can make a better decision to deal with this company now or in the future.Final Business Response If a book is ordered through Amazon, Amazon prints the book. Amazon has a more robust return policy and carries stock. Lulu does not carry stock and does not accept returns.

Received books with no photos inside as placed and have not been able to have any response in over a week. No person to speak to, no response.Ordered 100 books for Dr. [redacted] and received books with no photos inside as placed. I filed three cases, supplied them with photo evidence of the inside of the book as they requested, and nothing. No person to talk to, no response, and Dr. [redacted] is 80 years old and needs these books for a speaking engagement and no one replies to us. Nothing. We have no recourse. Thank you all.Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/

This is a very poor company to deal with. If you want to cancel an order after 61 minutes they won't allow you to. They claim they have the policy listed on their ordering page but it is not clearly shown. They need to correct there deceptive policies.
