Lurube Developers Reviews (1)

Review: My first floor was damaged as result of Super Storm Sandy. A friend recommended Lurube Developers (owned by [redacted]) to me in November 2012 to perform the renovations. The work started in November 2012 with an agreed completion date of December 23, 2012. To this date my work is not complete. [redacted] reconfigured my laundry room to fit a stackable washer and dryer. However, he failed to tell me that I would be limited to the size washer and dryer in that room. Currently, I have a situation where the washer is falling off the lift built for it when its in spin cylcle. In addition, there is no vent for the steam to exit the building when the dryer is operating. The contractor constantly states that he is coming to paint and do other work towards completion of the renovation but never shows up. To make matters worse, he has started work on my neighbors property. So far I've paid the contractor $44,100 with a balance off $4,900 due upon satisfactory completion of the renovation. I've lost monthly rental income of $1,100 on this property in December, January, and now February 2013. My life is in limbo becuase my tenants have been sleeping on couches in my living room for the past three months. When I try speaking with him he get's loud, threathening, and abusive.

The street level floor (sometime incorrectly referred to as a walk-in basement) of my home was damages during the super-storm Sandy. I received some funds from FEMA, a loan from SBA, and borrowed from my retirement funds to pay for the renovations.I was referred to [redacted], owner of Lurube Developers LLC, through a mutual friend of ours. I hired [redacted] under the terms that he has to satisfactorily complete the renovations within one month of commencement. At this point my work is less than 50% complete and I have paid the contractor a total of $44,100. The following is a timeline of the activities:1.Received invoice from Lurube Developers, LLC (owner is [redacted]) on 11/19/12 stating first deposit (50% of $35K) due on 11/20/12. Note that I discussed with Lurube Developers owner regarding delaying the job until I have all my funds available. He said that he could start the job and I can pay him once I receive funds.2.Invoice received from [redacted] on November 18, 2012 stated that work will start on November 23, 2012 and be completed on December 23, 2012. That timeline was never adjusted in writing or verbally.3.First installment payment of $10,500 was made by wire transfer on 11/21/12.4.Received an adjusted invoice on December 3, 2012, resulting in the total construction cost increasing to $49,000 to cover joist work.5.Another payment of $3,000 was made by wire transfer on 12/4/12.6.Another payment of $17,000 was made by check on 12/12/12.7.Another payment of $13,600 was made by wire transfer on 1/17/13.8.Total payment made thus far is $44,100. Balance owed, upon satisfactory completion of construction is $4,900.9.At this point: a.The relationship between the contractor, [redacted], is contentious;b.The contractor promised on many occasion to show to work and does not show;c.He has not completed my work but is working on my neighbors property next door; d.My work is less than 50% complete. The following is some of the work that remains incomplete:i.Plumbing for kitchen incomplete;ii.Doors not installed (as a matter of fact, contractor has not purchased the doors);iii.Painting incomplete;iv.Wood floors incomplete;v.Painting incomplete;vi.Sub-floor and floor not installed in the Closet bedroom;vii. My dishwasher, microwave oven, and stove has not been installed;viii.Switch plates not installed. Outlets exposed.e.I have not received rental income of $1,100 for the months of December 2012, January 2013, February 2013, and March 2013 due tDesired Settlement: I would like to have to either have my job satisfactorily completed before the end of February 2013 or have half of the funds paid to the contractor thus far refunded to me.

I would like a refund of 75% of the funds paid thus far to Lurube Developers, LLC ([redacted]). In addition, I would like [redacted] to pay me for all rental income lost from December to present.
