Ethical and fair. Identified a much more serious problem with my older car (blown head gasket) and immediately stopped work on the minor problem I had the car in for...and gave me the option (with an estimate) to not continue repair on the car, or to proceed with the more expensive repair. I had the engine repaired and they did a fine job, on time and budget.
