Lux Interiors LLC. Reviews (2)

Dear [redacted],
It is Lux Interiors top priority to always meet if not
exceed our client’s expectations for projects we are hired to design and
execute.  Our first meeting with you was
Tuesday, June 17th at your home to...

discuss the scope of your kitchen
project, overall design, and budget.
When discussing the budget with you in great detail that evening, I let
you know that with the additional work you would also like done; hardwood
flooring throughout the entire first floor (except the laundry room), new
vanity cabinet and counter for the powder room, and painting throughout the
first floor your estimated cost would be 75-100K.  As I do with all of our clients, I advised
you with a project of this size and nature to please be prepared for a 10%
overage in case there are any unforeseen costs/issues that come up during planning
and construction.  At the end of our
meeting, we were in agreement with the direction, scope, and budget of the
project including getting quotes for new professional grade appliances if the
budget allowed.  You gave us a check in
the amount of $3,500.00 for a design retainer which would be applied to our
time spent with you, meeting with contractors at your home, meeting with you to
select materials, picking up and proposing materials for approval, detailed
floor plans and elevations for approval, Lux Interiors studio work, and any
revisions that needed to be done throughout the design process.
Our written estimate for your project reflecting everything
on your wish list, including the professional appliances was proposed to you in
the amount of $111,448.95.  After
reviewing the estimate you requested we sharpen our pencil and remove some
items you could live without…we did so, the new estimate came in at $85,496.97.  The estimate fell within your budget
discussed at our first meeting.
After reviewing our last estimate, you informed me that you
would like to compare the cost of the project with your own contractors.  At that time Lux Interiors supplied you with
all of the intellectual property; 20/20 Floor Plans, Elevations and Perspectives
so that when discussing the projects with new contractors you did not have to
start over.  You own the right to the
information as you paid us to design it in great detail.  You said you would be back in touch to let us
know how you would like to proceed…we never heard back from you.  To the best of my knowledge you used the
plans you paid us to create and moved forward with your contractors.
I am happy to read in your complaint, “I have no problem
paying her for her time.”  Lux Interiors
charges a Design Retainer to cover our time spent designing a full
comprehensive project and then upon approval we execute the plan.   (Billable Hours Spread Sheet was emailed to
you July 30th)  We are very
generous with our time when working on a project, we do not charge for emails,
text, or phone conversations.  Since you
made such a derogatory comment questioning the integrity of Lux Interiors billing
practices, we decided to research the time spent on your project you were not
billed for.  They are as follows:
Emails: 87, Text Messages: 43, Phone Calls: 27
As provided to you July 30th here is the
accounting of our billable hours:
** 8 Hours – Appointments ** 14.5 Hours – Design/Computer
Time **
Tuesday, June 17th – Andre Residence: our first
appointment with you in your home.
Monday, June 23rd – Andre Residence: met you at
your home with our General Contractor and Flooring Company to review the scope
of the projects and requested estimates.
Tuesday, June 24th – Computer Work in Studio:
entered kitchen floor plan into CAD
Monday, June 30th – Computer Work in Studio: CAD elevations
and changes with floor plan
Tuesday, July 1st – Tile Showroom: selected tile
samples for approval
Tuesday, July 1st – Computer work in studio:
floor plan and all details into 20/20 (revisions as per Andre)
Wednesday, July 2nd – Cabinetry Showroom with
Andre: selected cabinetry and counter
Tuesday, July 8th – Andre Residence: met
Cabinetry Company for their final measurements
Wednesday, July 9th – Flooring Showroom: selected
hardwood/plank samples for approval
Monday, July 14th – Computer Work in Studio: pricing
and photos of appliances for approval
Tuesday, July 15th – Computer Work in Studio:
spreadsheet reflecting final pricing from all contractors
Thursday, July 17th – Computer Work in Studio:
changes on floor plan and 20/20 (revisions as per Andre)
In closing, Lux Interiors fulfilled its obligation to you for
the scope of this project.  It was your
decision to execute the plans with us or not.
You are not entitled to a refund, in fact we did not bill you for all of
the billable hours.  We would never want
to part ways with a client on a bad note, if you would like to move forward
with your project or need further assistance we would gladly assist you however
possible.
Sincerely,
Kimberly L**

Review: I was referred to Lux Interiors by a very good friendWe met and I relayed what it was I wanted to do with my kitchen and discussed budgetI was very clear that $75,was my limitWith the exception of the Stove, I didn't think I needed to upgrade the rest of my appliancesKim disagreed and recommended upgrading if able to get into the budgetI was on boardI provided her a deposit of $to get startedI met with her one other time at a cabinet company to make countertop and cabinet selectionsMrsLux provided me several drawings from her computer, but other than that nothing was started on the jobShe sent me a proposal with a cost of $105,At $30,over what I said I could doWhen I expressed that this was not acceptable, she made a few adjustments but still came back at around $98,Obviously very unsatisfied, I said no, we couldn't do the job without making other changesShe never came back to me with alternate proposals that met my budgetI asked for an accounting of her work, figuring I could get back some of my $deposit, she claimed that all the money was used up with her timeCOMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL, DISHONEST and I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND HER.Desired Settlement: I have no problem paying her for her timeHowever, I am quite confident after much research that her fee of $far exceeds the actual work she completedThe most troubling of all too, is that she never tried to make things right and do other proposals to make the job complete.Very unprofessionalNot good businessI would never recommend her againI would like to be refunded at least %of my Money that I gave to her as a depositShe did not fulfill any part of this job
