All replacement windows installed damaged & cheep caulking failing - job unprofessionally carried out! 1) Found 5 deep gouges in expensive new bthrm wndw framing itself.2) Violently Pried bthrm wndw out with crow bar & damaging the window opening & the interior stop molding. Assistant worker tore off two 2" x 1" chunks off each end of the stock rot proof sill & the boss worker was just going to cover it up! Then after seeing all the damage they did I told them to stop & called the owner to show what they had done, the boss worker refused to listen & worked even faster to install the new wndw & nail gun and caulk the interior molding faster because he knew the owner was coming & didn't want him to see the damage. "He said don't worry if you don't Like it I'm going to take it back out" (He Lied). They even shattered the tempered glass all over the area then tried to vacuum it up. I was in shock because I knew they could never get all the glass. After they left I went to see and in ten minutes I picked up 96 pieces of glass (much of it was under and around the outdoor water faucet right where kids playing in the water or cutting the water on and off could cut their feet). And I found glass inside hidden in the bathroom rugs where I stand with bare feet . This was only a 6 wndw job!3) Bthrm interior stop that boss worker installed with PVC & exposed the artificial wood grain side instead of smooth side & the other side the stop seam is higher than the wndw molding seam! 4)Bthrm wndw exterior expensive exterior brick mold PVC trim does not match up with straight PVC trim at the joints. Looks terrible & caulking smeared everywhere with a big hole in the caulking at the top.5) Worker wrapped bathroom wndw sill with aluminum but front & bottom aluminum it is floating (not supported - not backed up with anything solid behind it & bent) AND never re-caulked the sill to the house siding inside & house siding was chipped off in 3 places.6) Lvg rm frnt wndw bottom sash wndw pane seals is bad in two spots - water penetrates the seal.7) One frnt wndw screen has a 3 inch tear at the edge.8) I was shocked to find the entire tops of all five bottom wndw sashes were scratched up making the wndw look like they are used or abused. When their work truck arrived I looked inside excited to see the new wndws & was shocked all the wndws were just stacked inside with tools & a pile of wood & everything else completely unprotected (not in shipping packages). It's no wonder ALL the wndws have damage.9) Terrible caulking job: Got caulking all over paint. Left un-caulked holes where water can get in. Caulked areas already opening back up or tearing away even though I pointed out caulking problems while they working that they fixed. Smeared caulking all over PVC but not in the nail holes!Used Cheap Off Brand Junk Caulking With No MFR Warranty while most name Brand Caulking Has 30 Year or Lifetime Warranty! All so the contractor can save $1 & the home owner can have 30 years to life of caulking problems on their new windows & expensive PVC brick molding?Every day it seems to be getting worse - more PVC gaps showing and more caulking tearing away! Six years ago [redacted] painters already replaced many areas with PVC and life time caulking and painted it (all of the corner molding of the entire house, the chimney corner molding & garage brick molding & 1 fnt wndw brick molding). ALL was well cut, No 45 degree joins opening up & No Caulking tearing away IN 6 Years!10) When the boss worker was reinstalling the outside shutters he caused two shutters to severely bow & some screw areas concave dips (looks bad & could cause the plastic shutters to break) because improperly screwed back in even though I provided new coated decking screws because they broke or striped out some of the old screws.11) One of the new frnt wndws sashes was severely binding (don't even verify their operating prop12) I found 3 1/2 inch fracture or deep cut in the exterior left bottom corner of one of the wndw frame (frnt bdrm - the rght wndw of 2 wndws).Desired Settlement1) Front Two Liv Rm Windows- Replace 2 bottom sashes & 1 screen2) Front Middle Bdrm-Replace bottom sash 3) End Frnt Bdrm- Lft Wndw -Replace bottom sash4) Rt Wdw- Replace entire replacement wdw (That would resolve scratched bottom sash and fractured or deep cut wdw frame (item 12) 5) Bathrm Picture Wdw- Replace bathrm wdw with a new construction wdw to include rot proof brick molding/sill (tempered glass) Resolves items 1-56) Reinstall bowed shutters & adjust screws on dips in shutters7) Bad Caulking & opening PVC JointsMake Sure PVC brick molding was cut proper lengths & adequately fastened to restrict movement. Remove as much inferior caulking & re-caulk with high quality caulking (50 year or life time warranty caulking) & caulk professionally . Once poor quality caulking is applied everywhere & excessively it is difficult to correct without replacing the PVC or cutting caulking off adjoining parts without damaging them.8) Whoever is carrying out these repairs has the competency & takes the time to perform them properly & inspect windows to make sure new condition no damage.9) Cleanup & make sure there is no broken glass remaining.10) After satisfactory completion, affirmation that wndws & labor have a life time warranty as homeowner was assured before signing the contract & having wdw warranty from wdw mfr. in hand, then home owner will pay remaining $3000.Opt 2 - If EcoView Windows NC can't professionally install the top quality wndws in new condition & with a life time warranty on the wdws & labor like I was promised before I signed the contract, then just refund my $1550 & I will hire another company that can!Business Response The customer will not respond to me. As of right now he has a completed project that has some very minor cosmetic issues. He has not paid for the product which makes them stolen in my eyes. Legal action will taken against him and the compliant was silly. If you have any further questions pleas call me and not email me. New energy efficient windows installed over rotted wood, previous window structure and not properly weather proofed. On 12/31/14 I had new windows installed by Luxury Bath/Home Craft Windows throughout my home. On December 28, 2015 I had a different contractor out to install new vinyl siding. When the old siding was removed the new contractor raised concerns that the windows would fail because of all of the rot that was apparent. I called the owner of Luxury Bath, [redacted] immediately on 12/28 and had my new contractors stop work. I spoke with [redacted] several times on 12/28 and I sent two emails at his request with several photos of the issues. [redacted] stated the he would come out to take a look at it in "the next couple days" or that he would send someone. The new contractor crew chief even took the time to talk to [redacted] to discuss the issues. Since the new vinyl job was in process, time was of the essence, the windows required repair immediately since they were now exposed and were delaying the new vinyl siding installation. I have never heard back from [redacted] or from anyone from Luxury Bath/Home Craft Windows. At the time of our discussions [redacted] was adamant that his crew would not install my windows in over the rotted wood and that it was new rot and they his crew did not see it at the time of installation. The current contractor that I had out stated that there in no way the the extensive damage could have accrued in less that one year and in their opinion it should have been addressed at the time of the original window installation. Due to lack of response from Luxury Bath/Home Craft Windows I had the new contractor repair the window installation, rotted wood, remove old window pieces if possible and re-frame the windows. I waited as long as possible to have the new contractor complete the repair in hopes that I would get some contact from Luxury Bath/Home Craft Windows, I could not wait any longer because it was hindering the completion of my new siding installation. My agreement was Luxury Bath is #5714, my sales rep was [redacted] My contract was signed on 11/25/14 and my windows were installed 12/31/14. My order was 300 Economy Windows, 6 single hung and 4 2-Lite Sliders, Performa TC, White, Wood-grain. The agreement states that there was a Lifetime Warranty* windows only & Sealant Warranty (1 year)And only because I am submitting this grievance this I would also like to mention that I never received the $100 referral fee that I was promised by [redacted] because I referred a friend at [redacted] Raleigh who purchase a bathtub install. I have previously call the office at Luxury Bath about the referral payment and was told that it was being taken care of but I had never received anything.Desired SettlementI am requesting a refund for the window repairs that were completed my my new contractor Kingsford Siding, Windows and Patio Rooms. I have not yet received the bill for the window repair, at this time I had only paid Kingsford for the siding installation. I am also requesting that the $100 referral fee be paid to me.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] - OwneContact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@luxurybathral.comWe installed the new windows on December 29, 2014 and there was no visible wood rot at that time. Also, there was no wood rot that was noted at the window measure on November 26,2014. I reviewed the pictures and the install notes and wood rot was never noted or seen in the pictures. My installers would never install capping over rotted wood. They always point it out and let the customer and office know what needs to be done to install windows properly since the windows come with a lifetime warranty. The wood around the window is not warrantied at all. As far as the referral check of $100 it was an over site and we sent them out quarterly and yours was cut on December 21st. Consumer Response I have numerous photos showing the visible wood rot, lack of caulking/foam (for an airtight seal) and original framework that was not removed that were sent to the owner of Luxury Bath at the time of my contact with him. This damage was not created in the last year, and even if it was it goes to prove that the window installation was faulty to allow water in to allow so much damage. The lack of caulking/foam around the windows to form an airtight seal and the remaining original framework that was left inside the window box and framed over shows negligence. I was at work on the original installation date and I was not contacted regarding the rotted wood or I would have paid the extra fee to have it replaced correctly at the time of the original installation. I am asking for the $275.00 that I have to pay a different company to repair these issues because Luxury Bath did not send a representative to my home to address my concerns and the windows were delaying my new siding installation. Also, I have not received the $100 check that was said to have been processed 18 days ago.Final Business Response Their was no visible wood rot at the time the measurements were taken nor at the time of install. The type of siding on the home was Masonite siding which tends to wick moisture as well as swell which I would assume is what lead to the damage. We seal the capping against the existing siding. You cannot get it under the siding, so if the siding had moisture in it causing the caulking to separate overtime that could cause the wood under the capping to have water damage. As far as the foam, some windows come with a foam wrap and some don't. There is a foam that can be applied at install and that is an additional cost. We have options and the customer has the option to add them or not to add them. It all has to do with the amount of budget that you have to spend.
