Luxury Pet Spa & Boutique Reviews (1)

Review: my 6 lb yorkshire terrier dog named [redacted] was brought into luxury pet spa and boutique for a routine groomming which was suppose to consist of a bath, nail trim, and haircut. We received a call from the facility asking us to come in and when we arrived we were told that [redacted] has an old wound underneath his right eye. We knew he didnt have an old wound so thought it was something minor. When the dog was finished in the grooming process they brought him out to us and he had a fresh open wound which certainly was not there before we brought him into the facility. The manager michelle was unhelpful and denied liability. No reasonable pet grooming owner would cut a dog's hair with an open wound so her excuse of this large wound being a pre existing issue is without merit. I have photos capturing the wound.Desired Settlement: refund for the grooming and the vet bill paid.

Response:

On Thursday June *, 2013 [redacted] bought a yorkie named [redacted] into my salon for grooming services. The dog was in a carrier. My bather [redacted] took him out the bag, cut his nails, cleaned his ears and proceeded to bathe him. She called me over after she bathed the body. (We do the head separately with a tearless shampoo to prevent burning the dogs eyes.) She said to me "I don't know if I should proceed bathing him and showed me a puncture wound which was covered by what we thought to be eye gook at first. I then took a plastic flea comb and combed the gook away and called [redacted] immediately. She came right in and asked how far along he was in the process. I told her that he had been bathed and was now coming out of the tub to be dried. I didn't want to send him out soaking wet, and since I knew her personally I went against my better judgment and groomed [redacted] anyway being careful to stay clear of his wound. [redacted] waited in our store while he got his hair cut. I bought him out to her and showed her the wound and she asked me several questions trying to figure out how this could have happened. I told her it was a puncture so it could have been a bite, a ruptured cyst, bushes, anything sharp. She paid, then left and called me a few hours later after speaking with her boyfriend....whom was never present at any time. She asked if there was any way the bather could have done this and I told her no because they do not use scissors or any other sharp tools. That is used solely by myself. She said ok and hung up. I then proceeded to get a bunch of phone calls from her boyfriend saying he was 100% sure that it occurred here. He was requesting that we pay the vet bill which is policy to do so if we injure a pet. However, since I was sure it did not occur here I declined payment. Since then they have visited a vet (which I will be filing separate complaint against) whom stated a bunch of unprofessional opinions. He says that this injury was done by a groomer with a scissor after ruling out other possibilities. He can not possibly say this for sure since he was given a biased account. To avoid dealing with this any longer I have agreed to pay 120.00 in exchange for an individual release agreement. This is what I was advised to do as per my attorney since it is cheaper for me to pay the bill than miss a day at the salon for court. They seem to have other motives since I agreed to pay with a little security from them that this would be the end and they have not responded. Maybe you could relay to them that agreement to them and we could settle this matter promptly.

God Bless You,

Response:

[redacted]:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

[redacted].

P.S. In defense of the vet, he ruled out other possibilities and did not jump to conclusions. He checked for allergies which would potentially cause a dog to scratch himself, ruled out an abcise which could form from the mouth and pertrude upwards and last but not least looked at the wound which he ruled to be fresh, not more than a week old which would allow any reasonable inference that it came from luxury pet spa. [redacted] was not around anything sharp for the week preceeding his grooming and we place close attention to him daily so if anything unforeseeable would occur we would have saw it. That wound was hard to miss and we have photos to show it. No reasonable owner would get a dog groom with an opened wound and no reasonable groomer would start the grooming process if the dog already has an opened wound...Food For Thought
