Initial Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2014/05/22) */
We are very sorry to hear that Mr*** was not completely satisfied with the service we providedWe were contracted to help with an issue he was having with a raccoon that had entered his home and was denning in the attic spaceWe
performed an initial inspection of the property and set a trapThe raccoon ended up leaving the property and not returning, so the trap was removedAfter the raccoon had left the area we installed several animal proof vent guards at Mr***'s request
It appears that Mr*** is concerned with the findings of our attic inspectionOur technician identified three different types of insulation in the atticThe northern portion of the attic was indeed insulated with fiberglass batts as Mr*** statedThe southern portion of the attic contained little to no insulation of any typeThe western portion of the attic (in the area of the front roof peak) contained a sheeted, blanket-style insulation which was not fiberglassGiven the age of the home, and the apparent age of this insulation, we determined that there was a strong possibility that the insulation contained asbestos
Safety is always one of our top priorities, both for our employees and for the occupants of any buildings that we work inAsbestos is a known carcinogen and its use has been discontinued for decades, although it can still be present in older buildingsAsbestos abatement requires special licensing and training that we do not possessFor the sake of health and safety concerns, if there is a possibility that asbestos is present we have to assume that it is until proven otherwiseThe suspect material would need to be tested by someone with the appropriate licensing and equipment to determine conclusively if asbestos was present
The attic inspection was performed by one of our Senior Technicians who has inspected hundreds of attic spaces in his time with our companyHe also consulted with one of our managers who, in addition to having over eight years of experience with our company, also has a background in masonry and home constructionBetween the two of them they made the determination that there was a strong possibility that the blanket-style insulation contained asbestosThe Senior Technician who performed the inspection also took pictures of the three different areas of the attic space, which can be made available upon request
Finding asbestos insulation is not a common occurrenceProducts containing asbestos have not been used since and much of the asbestos insulation that was installed prior to that has already been removed from buildingsWhen we informed Mr*** that we would be able to take care of the removal of the animal as well as any preventative animal proofing and remediation necessary, it was not our intent to mislead himUnfortunately, we are not licensed for asbestos abatementIt is one of the few areas of remediation work that we are unable to performSince it is such a rare occurrence it is not typically something that we bring up to our clientsIf a licensed third party is able to verify that the insulation in question does not contain asbestos, we would be happy to provide an estimate and perform this work for Mr***
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 9, 2014/05/22) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
According to the "senior technician", in a phone conversation with me, the person he "consulted" with was his construction foreman (his words)And based on hearsay, between the two of them, as I stated in my original complaint, the maybe, might be, could be, we don't know so screw you basicallyWe are responsible for paying for the vent guards which were placed on the ventsWe also will begrudgingly paying the attic inspection, even though what was represented to me in my original phone call with them WAS NOT DONEWe will also make everyone we know in the Chicago area exactly what kind of company this is, so what happened to us perhaps won't happen to someone elseBUYER BEWARE!
Final Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2014/06/04) */
It is never our intention to knowingly mislead our customers or misrepresent our company or the services we provideWhile we are not licensed to perform asbestos abatement, this is not something that we have found necessary to bring up to potential customers since it is exceedingly rare to encounter asbestos-containing insulation in residential homesThe determination that there is a possibility of asbestos insulation was not one that was made lightlyThe consequences of exposure to asbestos without proper precautions include mesothelioma and lung cancerBecause of this, it is something that we treat very seriouslyWe are not willing to expose our employees or our customers to this level of risk if it is not necessaryIf a licensed asbestos professional can confirm that the material does not contain asbestos then we would be glad to perform the remediation workIt would be irresponsible and dangerous for us to proceed with work once we have identified this type of risk
We have successfully assisted with making sure the home is free of intrusive wildlife and installing preventative, guaranteed animal proof materials to protect the homeThe additional visit to inspect the attic after the conclusion of the trapping and animal proofing process was done so at no additional charge as a courtesy to the homeownerEvery step that we have taken in the work conducted here has been done in the best interest of our clientIf the attic insulation does not, in fact, contain any asbestos, then we would be happy to continue assisting them with any additional remediation
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 13, 2014/06/06) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
It appears they "copied and pasted" exactly what they wrote the last timeBy the way, this company has never contacted me about this by phone or by mail (the only mail from them is the invoice for "services rendered"
This quote: The additional visit to inspect the attic after the conclusion of the trapping and animal proofing process was done so at no additional charge as a courtesy to the homeowner." *
I was told from the very beginning that the visit to inspect the attic was part of the original process!
Can you say ***

Can't say enough good things about this company and the guys who run itWe had a raccoon entering our attic through a hole in the breezeway from our adjoined neighborAfter numerous attempts to have the neighbor fix their problem of a missing vent cover giving the raccoon entry we called ABC human wildlife in to do the jobThey were able to trap the raccoon and remove it and install a patch so any animals could not enter our attic from theirsOnce the animal was trapped they were very quick to come and remove the trap and reset it to see if any other animal (perhaps a mate or children) were also entering the atticThey were fast, professional and very courteousIf I could give them stars I would

ABC proved to be the best solution for our problem. The technician was prompt, curious, and highly knowledgeable. I highly recommend ABC for any wildlife related issues.

ABC Humane Wildlife was professional since day one. Their highly trained staff is well appreciated when you are in need of immediate service. The prices are standard and well expected if you want great service and follow-up, without feeling like you're trapped to search for another competitor. Their years of knowledge was appreciated and well-followed through when they had to capture the skunk we had such an issue with under our deck. I would highly recommend ABC Humane Wildlife.

Wow, Landmark Pest was awesome !
Very polite and professional. Good customer service skills from all angles. The office people where just as nice as the guys showing up. Spoke to me so I could easily understand what was going on and how to fix it. All the guys where friendly and helpful.
I will be calling them back if I ever need them again....

ABC is great. We had a huge hornets nest. They came by and treated it, then a couple day later they took it down. Couldn't have asked for a better company. Highly recommended to friends and family when the have an issue with bees.

These guys did not do a thing for us. We hirde them to trap a raccoon that had gotten into our attic. They had their trap on out roof for 17 days and never caught a thing. We could hear the raccoons ripping at the roof and running around in the attic. She ended up having babies up there. Finally after being mentall exhausted from dealing with this we called and told them to come get their trap. We then hired another company who trapped the mother in 4 days and went up to remove the babies. This compant WAISTED OUR MONEY AND OUR TIME! Their trap was onour roof from 4-27 through 5-13-2015

We had a skunk getting into our shed, and ABC Wildlife came out very quickly to set up a trap. They caught the skunk, and removed it promptly (without the skunk spraying, which was the best part). The whole process went very smooth, and I will call them for any other critter issue in the future. Highly recommended!

We have been using the ABC team for many years. The service has always been excellent. Our experience is that they have always been to our appointments on time with great customer service. The prices are more than fair. We have used them at our business which is an Automotive Campus on over 24 acres with four large retail buildings and our homes. They can handle any job we have given them. We Highly recommend them.

These guys are a great, friendly, and thorough. We only had one squirrel to deal with, so we caught him ourselves and called ABC for a pick up. They were out the same day to remove our unwanted guest without any hassle. I will continue using them in the future.
