I contracted [redacted] Lynch to do a kitchen remodel. It included widening a doorway between kitchen and front room, removing a brick hearth from the floor, installing new flooring, painting the kitchen cabinets, installing the new appliances, rebuilding the island, some electrical, and some plumbing, which consisted of changing out the galvanized pipe for pex piping.
There was a problem with several of the projects. The kitchen cabinets had to be re-painted. The contractor said he would repaint but was going to charge me additional. I declined and hired by own painter. Several drawers needed new runners to open properly which he was reminded many times and did attempt to fix them but they are still not fixed, the new flooring and appliances need to be installed properly, and the shelf in the island needs to be redone.
Through an unrelated project by another contractor, it was found that an inferior product was used in the plumbing project causing the pipes to be leaking. I had the home inspection person that had originally inspected the area to come back and do another inspection. He found it did not appear to be a professional job and inferior product had been used. ( I have photos of the before and after) The pipes were already starting to leak. We had another plumber redo the project.
The electrical work was also done incorrectly. The new microwave was installed on the existing line instead of installing a new line only for the microwave which caused problems with the breakers in the house. The electrical work also had to be redone. I paid another electrician to install a new line for the installation of the microwave.
The contractor was notified but it took several phone calls and a couple of weeks before the contractor responded. We met with him, Dec. 17th, and presented all the problems. He agreed to fix the drawers, shelf, adjust the appliances, check the flooring and pay for the redo on the plumbing issue. No response again. Jan. 03, 2016, I sent him a certified letter requesting payment for the plumbing redo. He did call and said he would come the following week, no show. Called again and made a time for the week of 01-24. No response.
The project took way too long and had too many issues including the ones stated with others that were fixed after being pointed out. I have paid for a repaint job, some electrical issues resulting from the redo and redoing the plumbing. My desired results are for the contractor to fix the drawers, complete the installation of the appliances, check problem areas in the floor installation, install a proper shelf in the island and pay for the plumbing redo. I have paid for the electrical redo and have not requested reimbursement. Although I have paid for redoing the painting and electrical I am only requesting reimbursement for the plumbing and correction of the problems mentioned above in a timely manner.Desired Settlement: For the contractor to pay for fixing the drawers, adjusting the appliances, changing the drawer in the island and paying for the plumbing redo.
