Lyon's Muffler & Brake Reviews (2)

Mr. [redacted] brought to my shop a truck that he had recently purchased. He was concerned
because it did not run properly. Upon inspection it was discovered that two of three catalytic
converters were plugged.
After an agreed price for the repair, I found that the damaged...

converters were not a victim of
normal wear and tear. These units were ruined by a severe misfire in the engine. They were
melted inside. There are more than a few reason's a ~meltdown~ can occur: The converters
were superheated due to a raw fud condition in the exhaust flow. The excess unburned fuel
ignites when it strikes the hot ceramic catalyst within and drives the temperature above the
normal operating condition of the converter. This ceramic catalyst is unable to withstand
the extreme temperature and begins to melt. The ceramic collapses and the converter is
destroyed.
The condition that led to this meltdown could be the result of a number of malfunctions
including faulty oxygen sensors ([redacted] did not want to replace sensors) an incorrect fuel
mixture, worn spark plugs, ignition timing, faulty injectors, etc. the list is long and [redacted] was
informed of the details. I recommended a local mechanic that I trust to take care of my customers.
I told [redacted] that he hould take his truck to a qualified mechanic immediately or the same thing

will happen and there will be NO warranty on parts damaged by engine misfire.
He said that he understood, paid his bill and drove away - right pa t the mechanic that
I recommended! After a few days. [redacted] came back with the same problem (converter meltdown) claiming
that the parts I sold him were defective. I gave him a price that would cover my cost (with
overhead) and he was not interested.
I value my customers and sympathize with Michaels health issues, but it was Mr. [redacted]'s
negligence that mined parts purchased at Lyon's.

Review: On about early may my truck was not running powerful so I took my truck to Lyon's Muffler to check my muffler,,He told me that the one of catalytic converter no good,,,(left upper and and debris went to the main Catalytic converter on center) the next day me and my friend Paster [redacted] went over and Paid $1,100 for 2 catalytic converter and took off,,few hundred feet away truck acting the same way again,,when we turn around and go back to the shop,,the truck was driving very slowly ( no power) when we get there the shop was closed,,we took the truck to Mr, [redacted] house, We taught it might be other problem but we couldn't find any other problems,,as soon as I Remove the new catalytic converter the car start running again,, about 20 miles later I took the car back to the Lyon's muffler,, [redacted] the owner told me that my car no good and he will not replace the part,, I told him to call where he purchased the Catalytic converter and tell the that the part was defective , and it damaged my other catalytic converter,,he said that he will not do that, and he wants me to pay $1,100 more. the part that he put on my truck is one third of what was in there,,[redacted] told me that's what he taught,,([redacted] thinks that's the wrong one too) that's why he ask the sales person his name and last name( [redacted] from Magna Flow) [redacted],,,,I took the car to different Mechanics and muffler shop,,mechanics told me that its a bad or wrong part,,muffler shop told me this is a wrong part maybe defective ,, now due to that bad catalytic converter all three of them are bad,, at first only one was bad,,The main in the center was just dirty with dust and need to be cleaned up..Desired Settlement: I need all three of the Catalytic converter to be replaced,, I don't have any problem with [redacted]( Lyon's Muffler) he did a beautiful job installing it,, its the Magna Flow that give the wrong or defective part to Lyon's Muffler and Lyon's Muffler don't event want to call Maga Flow, he keep telling me that is m truck fault,,I can not talk to Maga Flow because I did not purchased the part from them,, The reason it took me so long to complaint because I am a cancer patient and I had surgery also contact them several time to resolve this matter,,,Its been three months that I don't have nothing to drive,,my truck need smog to get a tag,,I cant afford to pay for other people mistake.
