M. A. K. Construction Corporation Reviews (2)

Review: In March thru April of this year, a company was hired to do multiple repairs on my recently purchased home. As part of the work that we agreed upon and paid for was a "roof service." The company owner advised that this service would take care of any minor issues with the roof, to include the gluing down of raised shingles. It was brought to our attention by our insurance company, from an inspection completed by them in June 2015, that raised shingles remained on the roof. From photos taken by the insurance company in early March and again in mid-June, it shows that the same raised shingles remain on the roof. These photos are available upon request as proof that the work was not completed as agreed and paid for. I have made multiple attempts at contacting the office and was told by the representative there multiple times that the owner would contact me. I have also, went as far as to directly email him and included the photos, with no response. The company has no desire to either rectify this issue or contact me. As a result of this work not being done, my homeowners insurance has become in danger of being cancelled and I have had to contact another roofing contractor to properly complete the work so my insurance isn't cancelled. Upon request from the Revdex.com, I can provide you with the invoices, email to the owner, dates I contacted the office, as well the the photos from early March and mid-June.Desired Settlement: I am requesting a refund in the amount of $180.00 for work paid for and not completed as agreed by the company. due to the companies lack of response, I have had to hire another contractor and I have no desire for the company to return my residence and do any further work. A refund for the $180.00 "roof service" is all that I am seeking.

Response:

Dear [redacted]During out meeting on March 14, 2015 I had clearly explained to you in detail the problems associated with your roof and some of the possible temporary solutions. It was determined at the time that the roof shingles are nearing the end of their physical life and should be replaced in the near future. However, a temporary solution was mutually agreed upon between us. The temporary solution included the installation of a ridge vent, installation of new plumbing collars, and the re-nailing and sealing the shingles that were beginning to cup and lift. All of this work was completed in a professional manner by our service technician at the end of March 2015. We were contacted by you near the end of July of 2015 indicating that the work was only partially completed. This is simply not correct. The problem of cupping and lifting of the shingles shall be an ongoing problem until the roof is replaced. As discussed this is a common occurrence for roof shingles as old as the ones on your home. The photos you provided of the galvanized flashing for the chimney stack is typical and common and not part of your problem.M.A.K. Construction Corp. prides itself on quality workmanship as provided to you for over 25 years. Please find the check in the amount of $180.00 you requested as our good will gesture.Sincerely,Marian K[redacted]PresidentM.A.K. Construction Corp.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me, pending receipt of the check in the amount of $180.00 as indicated by the company being refunded.

Regards,

Review: I paid this contractor to fix my roof because it was leaking. The roof was completely replaced with a new roof and immediately with the first rain started leaking. I have called and emailed the contractor to come out and resolve the problem. I paid in full for a new roof -- over $1,800. I cannot get the contractor to come out and resolve the issue.Desired Settlement: Please fix the roof so that it is not leaking.

Come out to my house and resolve this issue.

Response:

The problem resulting in the leak was not due to our workmanship or material installed on the lower roof. Our technicians did visit the property and removed some vinyl siding panels. After such time it was evident that the water infiltration was above the recently installed roof. Our technicians did apply silicone and aluminum kick out plates in the suspected area however this may be only a temporary solution as the upper roof is beyond its physical life and is beginning to deteriorate at the roof rakes contributing to the problem.Regards,Mark B[redacted]
