M and M Landscaping Reviews (4)

Review: On July 30th, 2012 I contacted [redacted] the owner of M&M Landscaping requesting to have a paver patio installed. [redacted] and another gentlemen arrived a few days later for the estimate. I told [redacted] several times that I needed the patio completely installed no later than Saturday, August 18th because we were entertaining out of town guests. He agreed to have everything completed well ahead of schedule. On August 6th they began digging the area for the patio. Approximately 6 days later they came back out and put limestone over the area. I didn't hear from [redacted] again for another 4 or 5 days. I kept calling him numerous times but he never returned any of my calls. I had already paid him $1200 as down payment and then another $350 for additional materials. Finally after over 30 attempts to reach him, his wife [redacted] texted me and said that [redacted] was ill. She went on to say that he would finish the job and was not a thief. On August 10th I informed [redacted] that the building permit was approved by the city. He then came back out and dumped a few pounds of sand in our driveway which was hardly enough to finish the job. I called [redacted] several times to find out when he would be back to finish what he'd started but he never returned any of my calls. I have all of my cell phone records, photos of the job site, and text messages. [redacted] even stated that his business partner told him that they should quote "walk aways from the job since they already had my $1550!" On August 16th I decided to take matters into my own hands and I found another reputable contractor to finish the job. The contractor informed me that M&M had not dug deep enough and that the pavers would have lifted up after a heavy rain. They also said that the amount of sand that [redacted] delivered was not enough. Please do not allow M&M to take advantage of another customer.Desired Settlement: This is a warning for other potential customers that M&M Landscaping is not a reputable, honest, company.

To whom it may concern,

Yes I would like this to be registered as a formal complaint against [redacted] & M&M Landscaping. Since I have now received my money back from PayPal nothing is owed to me from their company; however I would like a public notification sent out so that they do not attempt to take advantage of other consumers. M&M caused my wife and I un-due stress and anxiety since they refused to return any of our calls, text messages, or e-mails. Once they dropped off the sand in our driveway, they never returned to complete our patio, therefore I had to find another contractor to complete the work. We also took time off from work waiting for [redacted] and his crew to arrive at our home.

Thank you,

[redacted] from the company called and said a completion date was given however, proper permits were not pulled by the consumer and thus the completion date of the 18th couldn't be met by the company. The permit was never received until the 10th. Company already had a busy schedule. The consumer has received a $1200 refund out of the $1550 given. There is no written contract.

Response:

To Whom it may concern,

[redacted] is again being deceitful. The permit was pulled on August 10th, 2012 as agreed. [redacted] "guaranteed" me that the patio would be completed on or before August 13th. I have saved every text that he, his wife, and business partner [redacted] sent me. I also have copies of my cell phone records where I called him over 30 to 50 times in a 3 day period with no response. He stated quote "we are dumping a load right now and on our way to your house." That was on the August 13th and of course [redacted] and his crew failed to show up. On August 15th, I sent [redacted] a text literally "begging" him to come out and complete the work that he started. He sent me a text stating "I will be putting down the floor tomorrow & Friday (8/17) afternoon. I will take off $100 and I will write the warranty tonight." Again, he and his partner never showed up. No phone call, text, or anything from him. Then finally on August 16, he sent me a text & pulled out of the job at the last minute and never called me again. Now keep in mind that our back yard was completely tore up due to the digging that he had begun. And on top of it all, the work was done improperly. So I had to pay another contractor $2800 to finish the job and they were unable to complete everything that we needed for our family get together on August 18. [redacted] cost us an additional $1000 or so since we had to get someone in at the last minute. Not to mention the countless hours that my wife and I spent away from our jobs waiting for him to arrive. We expect compensation from [redacted] and M&M Landscaping.

The consumer should have pulled the permit when he was told to do so. There was rain for 2 days between August 10 and August 13th. The company indicates he has contacted his lawyer and will press charges against the consumer if this continues. Feels this is harassment. The consumer has texted him asking him for compensation. No compensation will be given.

Review: We signed a contract w/ MM Landscaping for mulching and deck repair, pressure washing and staining. MML tried to replace a board with a new board that had 2 knots that were approx. 3" Diam. I asked him to replace it, which he did (should never have been installed in the first place). He then tried to replace a couple more boards which he left screws exposed and even raised (not screwed in all the way). It was clear the main posts were not parallel or even, but his attempt to repair it was hideous. He also thought a piece split missing approx. 1/2" would be acceptable to re-use. He claims he builds decks, there is just no way. We asked him to fix it and after several attempts to contact him and work things out, he sent a text message saying he quit because I was giving him a hard time and that no matter what he did I wouldn't be happy. To top it off when he took off an old board he just threw it off the deck into our flower bed breaking-off 2 branches of our Azalea bush and when they edged they left huge chucks of dirt on top of our weigela plants. So, he pressure washes the deck, stains half the deck and edges around the flower beds for $240.00 (our down payment). I figure I owe him for replacing one board and edging since that's the only 2 things he did to my satisfaction. So now I have to hire someone to finish repairing my deck, finish staining it, and mulch the flower beds. What a waste of time and $$$. He does not return messages promptly and continously lied when he said he would be working and doing work - Very unprofessional.Desired Settlement: I'd like my $240.00 back.

Deck was rotting when the company arrived. Consumer didn't want to spend much money. The company recommended sanding first, but consumer declined. There was a contract. The consumer will not be happy with the work. It was recommended to use a solid color on the deck instead of transparent color. The company did not break any boards. No refund will be issued.

Review: This company's owner, Marc DeMarco, quoted me $230 to mulch my yard and trim my shrubs. The day before Easter in March, he came over and asked for $100 deposit to "save the date" of April 20th to come do my work. He did not show up and will not return our phone calls. He cashed the check but has not done the work. He basically stole $100 from me.Desired Settlement: I would like the gentleman to return my $100 because it appears he will not do the work he promised.

The company indicates he is running behind due to the weather being so wet. The consumer called 4 times in one day. There are jobs that were paid for in December and have not been done due to the weather. The job will get done. This is a 5 man crew trying to do all these jobs. The company is willing to refund the $100 if the consumer does not want work done.

Review: I hired M&M Landscaping out of Eastlake, Ohio to complete a fencing job on my property of [redacted]., Euclid, Oh 44123. The company bid the job at $1,800. They requested $1,000 down payment and $800 upon completion of the job. The job was scheduled for May 23, 2013. I have a receipt for my down payment of $1,000. May 23rd passed with no job completed. I was out of town for work in Washington, D.C. when the job was to be completed. I contacted the company to inquire about how the job was coming along on May 23rd. I received a text message response indicating that they had not started. When I asked why it hadn't even started, Mark DeMarco (spelling?) told me that he was unaware that his partner was flagged in my city and so they weren't able to get a permit. He asked me to pull the permit and said he would drop paperwork off for me to obtain it. Days passed and I didn't receive the paperwork. Upon receiving the paperwork, I noticed that he hadn't provided M&M Landscaping's contact information on the paperwork for filing with the city. I quickly researched Euclid guidelines and learned that me pulling the permit meant I was doing the work. I told him if his company couldn't get registerd with Euclid then I couldn't have him complete the job because that would be illegal. He tried coercing me into letting him do it, with me filing the permit. I told him I wanted my $1,000 deposit back. First he responded it will be a few days because he was out of town. Then he stated he would put $800 in my mailbox and that $200 was a small price to pay for 3 days of labor. Please note: He did NOT do ANY labor for any of the $1,000 to belong to him. All he did was attempt to pull a permit and drop paperwork off in my mailbox. He is making claims that there is nothing the Revdex.com or police can do to help me.Desired Settlement: I would like my full deposit of $1,000 returned to me immediately since no work was completed and is unable to be completed since this company is flagged in the city of Euclid and unable to register as an authorized contractor in Euclid, Ohio.
