In response to Mr***’s complaint, in fact Dr*** did agree that he may pay our office through an auto-debit system vscare credit per Mr***’s requestMr*** did sign a contract stating that he would receive a specific amount of adjustments based on medical necessity and the
payments would be spread out over a course of months making it affordable for him to pay. Nowhere does it state that he only had to pay for a month of care Care is provided upfront and any services rendered would be owed Our contract clearly states, under Discontinuation ” Retail fees will be calculated without discounts and pro-rated on a per visit basisYou do not simply owe your monthly fee.” Retail Fees equal $per visit. (Example: if you have had visits at $each when care is discontinued, you will owe $750.00)
When Mr*** called and stated, “he” wanted to cancel care”, I attempted to discuss with Mr*** the contract detailsHe hung up on me several times, and then called back again He said, “he never signed any contracts, I stated, “I will be happy to mail you the copies of the contract you signed”. He had of course been presented with a copy at the time he signed up. I also discussed with him that we would be happy to have him sign a different contract for $a month for months to help him out paying off his balance due even though our contract states, “In the event you decide to discontinue care for any reason, or we regretfully find it necessary to discharge you from any care, any outstanding fees become immediately due and payable.” Our goal is always attempt to work out financial arrangements with patients. During one of the calls Mr*** refused stating, “ that I will not sign anything you give me”. He also told me, “he would just cancel his credit card”. I stated, “ if that occurs your account will be turned into collections if the account goes months in the rear” and that our goal is not to go this route Our objective is always to help the patient with payment arrangements to avoid collections.
Per Mr***’s complaint he states that he expressively verbally refused any type of contract to sign, however in his third sentence he states, “ I was under the impression that what I signed was an agreement to pay as you go.” Clearly he was aware he signed the contract. He also stated, “that he offered to pay for $for weeks of care between 3/1/through 3/21/16. He stated, “ we did not agree”. Our charge for service is $and Mr*** had office visits over the course of these two weeks for a balance of $750. Once again under Discontinuation, the example given is Retail Fees equal $per visit. (Example: if you have had visits at $each when care is discontinued, you will owe $750.00) As a business it is not a practice for us to reduce our bill by due to a patient having financial issues beyond our control. We do however always try to make arrangements with patients to lower their payments and spread the payment out farther to help out.
I hope this has cleared any confusion with Mr***’s complaint. If you need any other information I will do all that I can legally to discuss his case
