After 4 visits, company said air conditioning was fixed. Approximately 10 days after last visit, unit stopped working, leaked & caused water damage.
The week of May 19th, 2013, I turned on my air conditioning and it did not work. I have a home warranty, American Home Shield (AHS). I called AHS and they assigned me MD [redacted](MDH). MDH's first visit was on May 25th. They examined the air conditioning system, both inside and outside, and said we needed a new compressor. The company claimed that it took approximately 10 days to order the part. They did not return to fix the compressor until 6/5/13. During this time, the temperature in my house reached 85 degrees and my four-year-old son frequently became ill because of the heat. After fixing the compressor, the technician from MDH said he failed to notice on his previous visit that we also needed a new coil. After another approximately 10 days, MDH returned to fix and replace the coil. The technician from MDH was here from approximately noon until 2 pm. At 2 pm, technician stated that there was another part that needed to be replaced, but he didn't have the part in his truck and he would need to return. MDH returned later that day and "fixed" the unit. On the 28th of June, 2013, I returned home in the late afternoon to an 81 degree house. The unit had stopped working again. The next morning, June 29th, I went into the basement and noticed a giant pool of water around the air conditioning unit. The was also a giant block of ice that had formed inside the unit. The water leakage was so great that it leaked through the wall and into our newly finished (less than 2 months old) basement. On one side, the water leaked and soaked through our new carpeting. On the other side, water soaked through our bathroom, leaving a pool of water under our new bathroom floor. I called MDH on 6/28 to report that the unit was again not working. I called them again on the 29th to tell them about the water leakage. MDH returned on 7/1. they found that a "teflon ring on a boil piston" needed to be replaced. During their visit on 7/1, they mentioned nothing about what was to be done about the damage to my home, even though I continuously reiterated that time was off the essence, and the problem should be fixed before mold started to grow, causing further damage. On 7/2 I e-mailed MDH pictures of the damage, still no attempt was made to take action to repair the damage. on 7/2, I called Servpro, a company that specializes in water damage repair. On 7/3 Servpro came out and gave me an estimate, which I immediately e-mailed to MDH. MDH made no attempts to contact me about the damage. I called MDH on 7/5. I was told I would be contacted later in the day. I was not. I called again at approximately 4 pm and was told they referred my claim to their liability insurance. When I called the liability insurance, I had trouble b/c MDH had given me the wrong claim number. When I finally was able to work through that, I found out that my information, such as phone number, that MDH had provided to the liability insurance company was incorrect. I will be forwarding information, including pictures and the Servpro estimate, to the liability company, b/c MDH has failed to do so.

In my research of MDH I noticed that they already have an F with the Revdex.com. I did not choose the company, but was assigned them. I hope that by filing this complaint that consumers who have a choice do not choose them for any repairs. It took more than 3 weeks for my air conditioning to be fixed during sweltering summer heat. It should have been fixed the first time, but technicians failed to correctly diagnose the problem. Even after patiently giving the company numerous attempts at repairing the unit, they did not and it resulted in damage to my home. It took me two years of working overtime to earn the money to be able to finish my basement and turn it into a playroom for my children. MDH, through their incompetence, ruined something I worked so hard for. They have failed to own up to their mistake and have been unresponsive. Thank you.
