Our family purchased a headstone for our parents' grave site and I couldn't be more pleased with the service and the final product Fred Mills was a pleasure to work with, a gentleman, extremely helpful and patient as we sifted through their extensive design offerings He was very good at helping us make final decisions that made the stone look really nice and balanced The price was better than any we could find in the vicinity The final product is really beautiful Thanks

Review: I recently met with [redacted] Leahey @ Schlitter Monuments in Danbury, CT to discuss engraving of my deceased mother and sister's names on a family plot. I was told the information I requested would be 'given to the engraver' to see if what I requested could be done and that I would then be sent an email that would show me how the stone engraving would look. I was also given a price at that time. When I was contacted and told it COULD be done, the price was higher than originally quoted AND that I would NOT be shown what it would look like 'until I made a commitment' to have it done. I explained what we had previously discussed and that I could not commit to such an expense before SEEING what I would be paying for (close to $1200.00). I was then told, 'I think you should go somewhere else to have this done'. I repeated several times that I was willing to make a commitment but would need to see WHAT the headstone would look like in case I wished to make any adjustments. (i.e. having less engraving done to save on cost). Mr. Leahey kept simply stating 'I think you should go somewhere else to have this done--I'm not going to have him do all that work without a commitment.' There was no further discussion to be had. I hope that your bureau can put an end to the bullying that I feel occurred here. I also work in customer service and would never THINK to respond to someone in this matter PARTICULARLY when you are dealing with a population that has lost a loved one(s). I would not recommend AND I will discourage anyone from dealing with Schlitter Monuments. It is unfortunate that this ONE person has represented this business in such a negative way. To others who need this service... please take your business elsewhere so you do not have the unfortunate experience of dealing with this man as I have. This is a clear example of the consumer being taken advantage of.

They should be held accountable for what was originally discussed AND informed that the consumer has A RIGHT to see exactly what they will be paying for. Originally I was told I would be able to review and approve what was to be done but apparently this business (man) feels he can go back on his word and not provide that information UNTIL things are done as HE wishes.

We at Schlitter Monuments pride ourselves on the excellent customer service we have provided to over 2700 families during the last 10 years. A quality product at a reasonable price has always been our goal. Unfortunately there are times when customer expectations are at odds with company procedures. That creates situations that makes resolution of a problem difficult at best. Regrettably that is where Ms. [redacted] and myself evolved to and I felt it was in both of ours best interest for Ms. [redacted] to pursue other suppliers. Although I take exception to some comments in Ms. [redacted]'s complaint, I don't see any benefit to discussing this any further and wish her well.
