Review: He said it's printed in phone book ad, "estimate charge if he doesn't do repair". But it's NOT in phone book! He didn't even check "problem.

On Jan. 7, 2014 We asked M&M Appliance Repair technician to check problem with our stove oven dial because oven wouldn't turn off. He looked at stove but did not check for the problem & just took our word that it wasn't working. I asked if he needed me to flip circuit breaker to On position, because we had turned electricity to stove Off for safety reasons. He said it wouldn't be necessary. Then he checked under stove for some identifying info. Then he gave us an estimate of how much it would cost to repair it. How did he know what to repair if he didn't even touch the stove? It cost so much I asked how much it would cost for a new stove. He said his friend would sell us one for $400. That was a hundred over what a part would cost. We decided to wait. He asked for $49.95 for his trouble. I gave him check & then regretted it & asked why he charges for estimate when nothing was accomplished, even to check on repairing it? He said he has to make a living somehow. We stopped payment on check but it cost us $25.00 fee at our bank to do that. Here is the kicker. When we turned the circuit breaker back on, the stove worked. All it needed was sort of a reboot. He would have found that out if he had just checked it. ha! We want our $25.00 fee returned. We think he is a shifty character. We don't want to hurt an honest businessman, but our conscience tells us to report this to Revdex.com. PS: He said that it says in phone book ad that if work isn't done there is a charge for estimate. BUT, it did NOT say that in his small ad that had just his business phone!Desired Settlement: $25.00 fee from our bank for stop payment on the $49.95 check we gave him for doing nothing. And, we should want his business to have a "ding" with the Revdex.com.

Review: M&M appliance ([redacted] put a new ice cube maker in our freezer in July of 2014. It has a year warranty. Our icemaker stopped working on 2.23.2015, He came right out and got it to work. That afternoon it stopped working and we called next day to say no ice. He came back on 2.26.15 at 8:30am found again that the funnel was twisted and blocking the ice tray arms so no ice. He reset the funnel and said he would need to charge us (no charges up to this point) next visit. He wanted us to be patient and wait a couple of days. I called him on 3.2.15 and his daughter was ill and he would call us back when he could get by here as he would need to send our icemaker back to get a new one as it is defective and under warranty. 3/5, 3/9 3/12 4/1 and 4/3/2015 I called and left messages with NO response. Our warranty is running out and he is the only one to get us a new one.Desired Settlement: Would like him to come and take out the defective icemaker and get us a new one put in.

Company states: At this time last year GE offered a 1 year warranty on parts. They no longer offer that. California law is 90 day parts and 90 day labor. I have installed two ice makers already. Somehow the plastic is bending and that is not near a part. There is no obstruction to bend this piece of plastic. I do not know why or what they are after. I went out there for free for four trips at no charge. I installed another motor ice maker. I am not going to give another ice maker. I warranty that thing from July to three months after that. GE is going out of door for business. They have a 28 year old refrigerator with a new 2008 ice maker in it.

Says on receipt that we have one year warranty. I know our Fridge is old but it works great even with new ice maker until this year then it stopped working due to a bad part in it. If it is no longer under warranty I just need to know. So if I can have clarification on this receipt..
