The business was enlisted to pick up my brothers car. I verified with the lending company that they were paid a repo fee from the lender and that the account was settled and car ready for pick up. When we called for pick up, we were told there would be an additional *** charge and it must be paid in cash. We also could not get the guy to give us a straight answer on when the car could be picked up. I called the lending company who validated this was strange and not normal
Practice for an additional 'redemption fee'. There were not taxes charges for the services provided and zero information can be found on this company.
Other (requires explanation) Resolve if this is an actual business and proper licensing and taxes are being paid. If not, I would expect a refund for the additional fee.
per my call the other day. M&M Recovery is a repo company address *** we operate under D.B.A. WESTSIDE MOTORS. WE HAVE A SALES TAX PERMIT, WE HAVE USED CAR DEALER TAG .THE REPO PART IS A CONSENT TOW YARD WE DO NOT TOW CARS FOR HIRE. WE ARE ALSO REGISTERED WITH ARKANSAS TOWING AND RECOVERY BOARD. MY PHONE NUMBER IS XXX-XXX-XXXX. THIS SHOULD ANSWER THE LADY'S DOUBT ABOUT US BEING A BUSINESS. AS FOR THE FEES THAT I CHARGED HER WAS ABOUT HALF PRICE OF WHAT I COULD HAVE CHARGED HER . I CHARGE ANY ONE FEES WHEN THEY REDEEM A CAR WHICH IS VERY RARE. MOST LENDERS NOW WANT FULL PAY OFF. AS FOR THE FEES THIS IS WHAT MOST REPO LOTS CHARGE , MOST ALOT MORE. MY TIME IS WORTH SOMETHING. ALSO WHEN PEOPLE GET THERE CAR REPOED THEY WANT TO BLAME SOME ONE AND THE REPO COMPANY IS THE EASIEST. I KNOW PEOPLE GET UP SET WHEN THEY GET THERE CAR REPOED BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE PAID. SHE SAID THE LENDER SAID THAT I SHOULD HAVE NOT CHARGED HER. THEY ARE JUST PASSING THE BUCK I AM THERE HERO WHEN I GET THERE UNIT . AFTER THAT WHEN DEBTOR CALLS THEM I AM THE BAD GUY. ALSO I KNOW THIS PUTS PEOPLE IN A SPOT AND I TRY TO BE AS NICE AS I CAN . THIS LADY WAS NICE AT THE TIME, THAT IS ALSO 1 REASON I DID NOT CHARGE MORE. THE LADY WITH HER ALSO SAID I DID NOT HAVE A WEB SIGHT, . I DID NOT GET TIME TO TELL HER THAT WE DO NOT ASK FOR PUBLIC BUSINESS WE ARE IN A NETWORK THAT SENDS US THE BUSINESS .. WE DO NOT DEAL WITH THE PUBLIC OR SMALL CAR DEALERSHIP, JUST FINANCE CO'S THAT SEND US A HOLD HARMLESS WITH THE REPO ORDER. BILL

I do believe he should be paid for his time. Based on the lender's response, he did get paid, from the network he references that contracts him to do the job. I would like to confirm that he did in fact get paid for his time by the fees paid to the lender. If so, this fee has in face been paid and would not require an additional fee. Fortunately for us, we can pay the fee. I wanted to inquire and make others aware so that they are not taken advantage of. The company also thanked me for letting them know as this will discourage the use of their company due to this practice.
