roof. We immediately sent out our representative [redacted] to investigate. We did not find any "slits" in the roof. No defects were noted in the labor of any kind. No unfinished steps of the contract were noted either. The "slits" that this client referred to were actually small gaps left by the home builder in the outside cornice work. It is something that is common in outside cornice work, that we see all the time. The client stated in their complaint that they had the house inspected in 1998 when the purchased the home. I have seen many of these home inspections and they usually will leave no stone unturned in their investigation of defects on a home and they too did not note these areas, I would assume because they are relatively common to all homes. Our representative did note when he inspected the roof that there was other areas of the home besides these where some gaps were present. These were all pre-existing conditions on this client's home.We were hired to put a good roof on this clients home that doesn't leak. This is our area of expertise. We were note hired to evaluate and remedy potential areas where rodents might enter the home, this is not our area of expertise. We have very patiently and promptly tried to explain this to this client. We are happy to resolve and be responsible for issues that arise from the contract that we performed with this client. We are not willing to resolve issues that were not contracted to be resolved by us. The client states in her complaint that we should have seen these areas and anticipated the future problems she would have in these areas and at least let her know or better yet just prevent any future problems. We would have loved to do that, but we see these kind of small gaps in cornice everywhere and of course she had other ares of her home where small gaps were observed, and again this is not our area of expertise. We had no way of know rodents would choose her home to infest. I suspect that there are many areas that rodents could choose to enter an attic. The client wants us to pay damages for not alerting her to a problem where we have no expertise or responsibility. I am rejecting this response because: I keep repeating myself. The gaps in the roof were left open by M & M. He did not offer anything or any assistance. This has cost of thousands of dollars to remedy because of their negligence.

I am a little confused as to what further response I need to give this client. Her note says that she has rejected our offer. We did not make any offer to her.Again there is no defect from any work that we performed on her home. There was some very small gaps left by the home builder on the carpentry of her home not the roof. There was also other areas of her homes where rodents could have gained access.
