M. Marin Restoration Inc.

We hired M Marin Restoration to complete a project for us. The project went terribly wrong from the beginning. They poured foundation incorrectly causing portions of our new structure to sit on a ledger board instead of the foundation, they framed the structure incorrectly, it had to be torn down and re-done, then made critical errors in the connecting of the framing to the roof with tie downs, they even admitted to our architect that they were not familiar with some of the building codes and that is what lead to the mistakes. It became clear that they had difficulty reading construction drawings.
The hardwood floors had to be installed twice, $5000 of bathroom tile was installed poorly, and had to be gutted. The list of mistakes is endless!
They send minimal crews, they estimated 3 months for the project, we are at 6 months and 1 week, know one is here today and no end in sight!
They even try to strong arm you to get money before they are due money per the payment schedule of the contract. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMMANY!!
I have significant experience in home improvement projects, this is by far the worst experience I ever had.

After hurricane Sandy hit Long Island, my house like many others were severely damaged. And it left my family feeling hopeless. Just standing in the middle of the destroyed downstairs and looking around was hard to take. Furniture was thrown all across the rooms, the refrigerator was turned over on its side from the flood, and outside trees were knocked down.

M Marin Restoration Company was on our block estimating and planning the restoration of a neighbor’s house. Nick, who works for the company, took the time to talk to me and my whole family in what was left of the basement.

Looking back on that day, and the work that followed, I can’t begin to thank him and his company enough for all he did for us. He assured us that everything would get back to normal. It took a while, but it did. In the end, it was better than ever.

Along the way the company helped us with the insurance, explaining everything to us. Everything was done to code. One day his workers were installing a new metal door leading in through the garage. One was also going up on the furnace room. When I told them I didn’t want a metal door(there was a hollow core wood door there before) , I was told it had to be done to code. But not to worry, they would be primed and painted so you wouldn’t notice the difference. And they were.

And yeah, there were some times we had to wait a week or two to see them, but this was in the height of Sandy.

I could go on, but I will just say this. In the end they brought our house back to us, better than ever. And I’ll never forget their kindness and concern in dealing with us.

A few years back we were devastated by a house fire. Marin Restoration came and rebuilt our entire home. Not only was this company efficient in meeting our needs and goals for a new house, they were sensitive to the effects of us losing our home and remarkably compassionate in making sure the house they built for us was to our specifications in rebuilding a home. The day to day, hands on attention provided my [redacted], as well as the personal visits my [redacted], provided us with the sense of security we needed to ensure that our ordeal was going to end of a positive note with a beautiful home.
