M-R Sales has no problem with customers having the car they are looking at to take it to have it checked out at a repair shop. We do not make used cars new. I'm sorry you are having a problem with the car. We will not participate in any repair.

The 2001 Volvo was purchased on 10-31-2014 for $3995.00 + tax, title and fee's. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The dealership never contacted me about the dealership, I called and left messages to have them set up a time for me to come and bring the car in.
Regards,
[redacted]

I purchased a vehicle from this dealership and exactly one week later I went to start the vehicle and the battery was dead. I also discovered that the TMP system didn't work and cost me $180.00 to have new sensors put in the tires which is cheap because my brother put them in. I contacted them and all they said was you purchased a used vehicle. To know the TMP system didn't work you would have to have went through the DIC system on the instrument panel which why would you do that when test driving a vehicle. It should have worked before they put the vehicle on the lot (safety concern). I would not recommend this car dealership.

I stopped at M_R sales looking for a used car for my daughter. I test drove one and was satisified with the car and asked his hours for Friday which are 9 to 5 p.m. My daughter and I showed up at 4:15. The doors were locked. No one was around. I left a msg on their voicemail as I had talked to guy about stopping by the next day and to return my call. Saturday (today) I did not receive a call and I called M-R sales. The same guy I worked with Thursday evening answered the phone and told me his sales guy left with a family emergency Friday evening. No note on the door or no one to cover the shift that is listed on their door on their website. He further told me if I don't understand family emergencies then I will need to find somewhere else to look for a car. I was shocked. I was totally shocked that there was no apology that the were closed early Friday. I was shocked he didn't care that I was interested in one of the cars. This man was rude and no customer service at all. Then he told me that they open at 9 a.m. today and he didn't get here till 9:15 a.m. So yes I am shopping elsewhere for a car but always sharing my experience at this used car business with others. Honestly, this man which probably is the owner was horrible.

Review: I purchased a vehicle from this dealership back in October of 2014, it had a faulty transmission they did not perform proper service they ignored my phone calls to try and get the car fixed. they reset the transmission which did absolutely nothing. I ended up trading the car in for something else but I am very angry that I wasted $4000 on a crap car.Desired Settlement: some sort of monetary settlement by the dealer

Review: On June 13, 2013 I purchased a 2006 BMW 330i from M R Sales. The buyers guide indicated no faults with the car & that everything was in good, running condition. Within the first month, the starter went out and I had to pay to have my car towed back to MR Sales so they could replace the starter. Then, 3 weeks later, my "transmission malfunction" light came on and I had to take my car in again to have it looked at. The results of that inspection showed that my transmission was pretty much shot and that it was "slipping internally" and I am going to have to pay more than $6000 to get it repaired.

I am beyond dissatisfied that I have had the car LESS than 2 months and have already dealt with this many problems. I don't believe that a car I paid $12,495.00 for should be breaking down to this extreme and in turn costing me another $6000 to fix.Desired Settlement: I want them to take back this vehicle and refund me my money. There is no way I should be paying for all this when I've had it less than 2 months, it's completely ridiculous.

Response:

M-R Sales feels badly that this customer is having problems with her car. We are surprised at the vehicle is having transmission troubles. We have never encountered a transmission issue with any BMW in almost 30 years of being in business.

When the vehicle was inspected and eventually sold, there was no starter issues or "transmission malfunction" light on. If there was, we would have had a qualified mechanic diagnose the problem and the proper repair made before the car was offered for sale. This customer also took the car to "have someone look at it'" before the purchase. We always welcome our customers to have our vehicles inspected by a qualified mechanic of their choice before the purchase. Every customer is given the opportunity to obtain warranty coverage that would cover internal portions of the drivetrain and other mechanical portions of the vehicle. This customer declined any coverage and signed a waiver stating so.

Shortly after the purchase, the starter did go bad. This problem was fixed by us at no charge to the customer.

We did look into prices of used transmissions. We found that they are readily available and were quoted a price of $950 plus installation and tax. $6000 is one price. A second opinion may be something this customer should look into. The repair can be done for less.

We hope that all the vehicle we sell, give our customers years of worry free use. Unfortunately, we are not able to help out this customer with this problem.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

First let me start with the claim that I, the customer, took the vehicle to "have someone look at it". This is completely false and if they can tell me when I did this, then please do because this never happened. I went to M-R Sales over my lunch break and test drove the car and then was back the next day to purchase it or claim the car. Granted I didn't pick it up that day but until the day I did pick it up, the car sat on their lot, in their possession. In that time frame, when would I have had time to take the car "to have someone look at it"?? This is a completely false claim.

Secondly, I'd like to address the situation about obtaining a warranty. I'm also a little confused as to when this took place. I don't remember ever being "offered" the option of a warranty. I couldn't even tell you what the available warranties that M-R Sales offers are or what it would cost b/c they were never disclosed to me. I see now that the option to waive one was placed it front of me and I was just told to sign my name.

Lastly, yes, you're right $6000 is one price and actually I gotten a couple opinions and they are spot on. I have looked into replacing the transmission with a used one, and that is a little more cost effect but that is completely beside the point. The point is, I should NOT be having to worry about an issue this extreme less than 2 months into my purchase. Also, if M-R Sales truly did a thorough inspection of the vehicle as I'm sure they will claim they did, then they would have caught the fact that the head bolts are snapped off, the valve cover bolt is snapped, the belt tensioner is bent and the lower transmission cover is leaking. Yes, I did have someone inspect the car but that was only AFTER the starter incident. If they were able to visibly see those issues then surely, M-R Sales should have seen them too during their inspection. So with that being said, I question the thoroughness of their inspections.

I feel completely taken advantage of in this situation and this is not right.

Again, we feel badly that this customer is having problems with her car. It is unfortunate that this customer went to the Revdex.com and the State of Wisconsin first rather then coming to us directly to talk in person about the problem.

While we think the car should have given her years of worry free use, obviously it did not. However when that warning light for the transmission came on, the vehicle should have been pulled over immediately to avoid damage to the transmission. According to her statement to the State of Wisconsin Dealer Inspector, she continued her trip to Appleton, driving at highway speeds with the warning light on. That very well could have done more damage to the vehicles transmission. Pulling over certainly would have saved the parts from further damage.

As, stated in the previous letter, the vehicle was purchased with no warranties. The customer declined purchasing an extended warranty. She owned this car for over 2 months and put on well over 3000 miles when the transmission light came on. We try to help out with major issues, in good faith, if something comes up in 30 days and less then 1000 miles. This is what the State of Wisconsin says is a reasonable amount of time a customer has to find major issues that were present at the time of purchase. We always make our vehicles available for inspection by a mechanic of the customers choice.

One issue came up with the starter. It was fixed at, no charge to the customer, in a very timely manner. I don't recall the exact date of the starter repair, but I believe it was just over 30 days and beyond 1000 miles. The starter was still fixed. We try and stretch where we can. There is always a line we have to draw on what we can do and that line can be a problem for the customer sometimes.

The State of Wisconsin Dealer Inspector investigates customer complaints and other fraud issues. His job is to keep dealerships in line and is the front line of consumer protection for vehicle purchases in Wisconsin. He can also revoke selling licenses for dealerships that are proven fraudulent and put them out of business. The inspector paid a visit to the dealership because of the complaint made by this customer. Based on the customers statements and the evidence presented, he sided with our dealership that there was no pre-existing issue at the time of purchase and that there is not further action required by us. I want to reiterate, The State of Wisconsin Dealer Inspector concluded there was no wrongdoing by M-R Sales.

At this time, no further action will be taken by M-R Sales and we consider the case closed.

Review: On 07-07-14, my son and I bought a 2007 Chevy Cobalt from M-R Sales. We picked it up on 07-09-14. [redacted] told us that he would cover 1/2 the cost of any repairs that were needed within the next 30 days. We drove the car home from M-R Sales to Stevens Point...less than 90 miles. The next day when my son was driving to work (less then 5 miles from home)he began having issues with AC blowing warm air. This happened a couple of times so I took it to my repair shop to have it looked at (Check's Muffler in Stevens Point...who are awesome by the way). They found that the car had a bad thermostat so I made an appointment with them to have the issue fixed. Their estimate was $250-$300 for the repair. Mind you, this started with less than 100 miles since we bought it. I called [redacted] and he stated that we would have to drive the car back to Green Bay and drop it off so his mechanic could look at it. [redacted] stated that the guarantee to "pay of half" of any repairs was only if his mechanic did the repair. I stated that was not at all what he had told us prior to purchasing the car. I had the repair done at Check's for a total cost of $269.26. I called and spoke with [redacted] again. After speaking with him about this some more he stated that he would check with his mechanic to see what he would have charged for the repair and that he would reimburse me for half of that. I was agreeable with that.I waited 4-5 weeks and hadn't heard anything from [redacted]. I called during work hours and nobody answered so I left a message. No call back. I called after hours another day and left a second message. No call back. Obviously, [redacted] is unwilling to follow through with his promise to pay for half of the repair on a car that started having issues 1 day (and less than 100 miles) after we bought it.Desired Settlement: I would appreciate [redacted] following his word and paying for half of this repair. And, rather than having his mechanic "low ball" the repair cost, I would like half of the $269 bill reimbursed.

On 7-7-14 [redacted] bought a 2007 Chev Cobalt. At the time of delivery I go over the 50/50 warranty, this warranty covers your engine and transmission for 30 days or 1000 miles which ever comes first. I tell this to everyone that buys a vehicle. [redacted] did call me a day or two later and said the AC was not working. I told him to bring it in and we would look at it, his reply was he would take it to his mechanic and have it looked at. He called me back and told me his repair facility told him the thermostat was bad, this has noting to do with the AC. And if it were, the thermostat and new gasket is $17.69 and a half hour labor. If you have any questions please call ###-###-####.
