To whom it may concern,
Mr. [redacted] called Exclusive Auto to make an appointment to...

have his brakes bled, because in his words he had been trying to do this on his own for weeks, as he described his ordeal, with no good result. He also requested we install a new accelerator cable to repair his idling problem. He made the diagnosis, and just wanted these two items repaired. The car arrived on the back of a flatbed tow truck in the rain. The tow operator informed us the drivers window was down and the rear plastic window of the convertible top had fallen inside the car. We also noted the very poor condition of the car and noted the drivers door panel was off which we assumed was part of his attempt to repair the window which would not roll up. He made no mention of having us look at it for repair so we left it as it was when it arrived, in the down position. The tow truck operator used a blue tarp to cover the rear window and the drivers window which he said was inside the car and did not belong to him. Proceeding to the requested repairs. The accelerator cable was installed first and his diagnosis was correct, it was broken.
We were NEVER asked to repair the throttle body, and if asked to do so we would have let him know that you can't repair throttle bodies. They can only be replaced with new units costing several hundred dollars. We next proceeded to try and bleed the brakes. It quickly became obvious that there was much more wrong than just as simple bleed. We checked the brake calipers, brake hoses, lines, ABS pump, and all related components. After no less than four hours of work and several phone calls with the owner, often with two men on the car helping each other with the scanner and bleed process, we concluded we needed a replacement ABS pump unit. We had a used unit at the shop but it turned out to be different. We ordered in a used unit through LKQ, which turned out to be wrong to. Not long before closing time the owner turned up to get the car and finish the repair on the back of the diagnosis we had spent a lot of time making. He was in a foul mood with a stunningly bad attitude. We were all quite taken aback and kindly tried to talk to him and just listen. We did not charge anything for all the time we had put in and the fluid and shop supplies used. We showed him the pump we had ordered, and he said he found one on E-bay and would install it himself. It is normal practice for us to put in time, and if a repair is not completed or made, we do not charge for it. We went the extra mile for the owner as we felt sorry for him at the time, knowing he had very little to spend and said so. We explained that the throttle cable did not complete the idle problem as there was an obvious underlying problem. He got ruder by the minute, while we tried to explain but seemed not to hear a word. He insisted on driving the car away anyway in the dangerous condition it was in. We wrote a disclaimer on the repair order and had him read it and sign off that he understood the content. It reads as follows. "Owner brought vehicle in because brakes did not work. Owner knows brakes are not fixed yet but is taking the vehicle. We strongly advise owner not to drive vehicle, vehicle should be towed. Because of the safety liability of the vehicle per the sheriff department Exclusive Auto LLC and its employees are not responsible or liable for any dangers that may occur, liability or damages that may happen if owner drives vehicle. DANGER - NO BRAKES. Owner has read and understands full warning disclaimer". I know this added to his irritation, but we had to do this. Lives other than his were at stake. We also called the Ozark Sheriffs department and talked to officer [redacted] about the matter of the owner driving the car in this condition. The owner stayed for a while never seeming to hear a word and maybe taken back by our continued friendliness. It became obvious to us all that his irrational, irratic, and foul attitude were because he was drugged up and high on something. After his ten to fifteen minute stay I politely asked him to leave. He would not. I then said you have to leave NOW. He did without incident, only to walk back in and mouth off some more incoherence to which I said you need to leave and now. He did. I stayed late that night to wait on a customer, and at around seven he calls, and apologists for his behavior, which I graciously accepted, and told him I did all that work in good faith and never charged a dime, which no other shop woul do. He said nothing and just asked if I was going to repair the damage to his car which he could not coherently explain what it was except for the drivers window, which he claimed we broke, to which I said we never touched and was down when the tow truck brought it to us, to which he couldn't explain what it was that was broken about it. At this point I told him I knew what his game was. He wanted money for his drugs, or a refund which would be the same. I told him that I was on to his extortion and said he could take his useless drugged up drunken self and find some other sucker to extort and not to ever come around here again. This is long and detailed, and let me make it clear, this verminous creature will get nothing out of us. This matter is now closed.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 11, 2015/09/16) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Everything that was said in their statement was false, I have witnesses to prove so. I'm getting a lawyer to sue them for discrimination, not working on the car correctly, and causing more damage to my car.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 14, 2016/03/17) */
On May 13th 2015 we replaced both lower ball joints on Mr. [redacted] 2005 Ford Mustang, with new ball joints he supplied. We warned him the joints were a cheap brand and would likely fail within a year, but he wanted them installed anyway. This...

was not mentioned in the complaint. Mr. [redacted] returned to the shop at the end of the year to investigate a knocking sound. We lifted the car and brought him into the shop to show him that as we had predicted, both lower ball joints were very loose, and should be replaced immediately with quality joints, and he would have to pay for the repair again as we did not supply the parts. He declined the repair and left on good terms admitting he should have listened to us about returning the inferior parts and swapping them out for quality parts. The failure was not discovered at another shop when replacing a tire. WE showed him the problem. Mr. [redacted] called at around 4:00pm one afternoon to tell me he was having the ball joints replaced at another shop, and that there were hammer marks on the arms, and he was on his way to the shop, unnamed at the time, to investigate. I told him I did not know what he was talking about, as the joints are pressed out and in with special tools and he should get back to me about it so we could see what the problem really was. I never heard from Mr. [redacted] again. There was never at any time a mention of clutch noise. The "so called" damaged parts have never been shown to us, and we have NEVER had an opportunity to respond in any way to any complaints. Here is the likely story in brief. Mr. [redacted] found another shop to do the job cheaper, and in the process JK's Auto Repair, a failing shop, and now we know why, took opportunity to sell more parts under the guise of "damage" to the control arms. It is a shame Mr. [redacted] would try to harm us, without ever giving us ANY opportunity to respond in any way. There will be NO compensation of ANY kind, and this matter IS closed.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 16, 2016/03/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Their statement is a complete fabrication. No one "advised" me on the cheapness of the ball joints and that they would fail. I have possession of the original lower control arms that have been hammered on to the point that the ball joints I supplied would not seat properly and the retainer clips did not fit into their respective slots. I was NOT consulted or brought into the shop to talk about the ball joints. Nothing was ever said to me of how they would fail in a short time. This statement is put forth to cover their behinds.
The shop that I had do the resulting repairs was not cheaper. My cost to fix the damage was approximately $901 and forced me to take a loan to finance the repairs. And as far as I can see their shop is not failing.
The knocking noise mentioned was due to something striking the flywheel and I mentioned that to the shop when I contracted with them to install a new clutch. Their shop installed the clutch I provided and the next morning after I received my car the noise was still there. There are marks on the bell housing where it was pried away from the engine block. This action caused further warping of the dust cover to the point that the two lower bolts had to be removed to stop the noise.
I REPEAT EMPHATICALLY! I NEVER HAD ANY SUCH CONVERSATION about the ball joints possibly failing AS IS INCLUDED IN THEIR RESPONSE!!!!
I have photographs that show the damage inflicted on my vehicle and will produce them along with the damaged parts in civil court if necessary.
