M. Scott Properties is not providing essential services for the rental units they manage. Our heater stopped working in February of 2015 and our swamp cooler has not worked since last summer of 2015. We reported both problems to management. They sent repairmen to tell us in both circumstances that the appliances are broken but they have yet to replace or repair the heater or swamp cooler. This is clearly in violation of Nevada state law but the management lied to us when we followed up on the repairs. They told us that the property owner is not legally responsible for the repairs. So now we are stuck in a rental unit with no heat or air conditioning.Desired SettlementWe would like M. Scott Properties to comply with state law and provide the essential services that we are paying for and not receiving.Final Consumer Response

After renting a house from M Scott Properties for a little over two years, we recently moved out of the area. We followed the move out guidelines we were given with our lease and left the property very clean, much cleaner than it was when we moved in. We also had the carpets professionally cleaned, per the lease agreement. Almost a month after leaving the area we received approximately half of our security deposit of $1550. Amounts were deducted for cleaning, $405 and carpet cleaning, $305. Other small repairs charges were deducted which we are not disputing. I called to speak with [redacted], the person responsible for move out billing. she refused to talk with me and said she was too busy to talk with me but she would call me back sometime; she refused to be specific. I told her we would be back in the area in 2 days and would like to schedule an appointment to speak with her. She said that she didn't know if she would be available to meet with us. She was incredibly rude and refused to allow me to completee more than a couple of sentences before cutting me off. I also called the owner of the company, [redacted] Scott, and explained the issue. She said she didn't interfere with the work of her property managers but would look at the file and call me back. I have not received any call back from anyone at M Scott Properties. I left the house in very clean condition and had the carpets cleaned. M Scott Properties did not offer to do a walk through with me prior to turning in the keys. I asked about such a walk-through and the receptionist told me the property managers were busy and to simply leave the keys. I should not be charged for cleaning and carpet cleaning that was already done.
