I am rejecting this response because: #1 payment due date is on the 14th they give a 7 day grace period.that's the 21st.I went to mace motors on Around the 23rd gave him two $500 dollar money orders.he could of called the bank and said that they got the payment in hand.instead they picked up knives and said were repo your truck.then started coming at me.thats when I took off with 4 guys chasing me with knives.they couldn't get me so they slashed 3 brand new tires.there was a big crowed at the taco truck that witnessing the whole thing.they owe me $600 bucks for new tires.I had to put junk tires as replacements.im told by other customers that this is what they do.they find any way to take it back to resale the same car over and over.I put $5.000 gran down.they never showed me any repo papers.he just pulled out his knife and sai d were repoing your truck.im going to file charges with the sherrifs office for threatning me with knifes.

Review: I purchased a used 2009 [redacted] Charger from Mace Motors in February. I put down $4000 in cash and was under the impression I was getting a good deal. They were very nice and I enjoyed the conversation that I had with them.it struck me as weird that they would not provide me with a copy of my contract, even when I asked they wouldn’t. I was told that I had 7 days to purchase a warranty and to call the man who provided the warranty within that time. Well the man never answered the phone. At all or returned the calls. So I was out of an opportunity to get a warranty. The car that I bought came with 22 inch rims. I got home that night to notice that one of the rims didn’t match the other three. My significant other and I went back to Mace Motors and they gave us the matching rim, we took it to a tire shop and they inform us its cracked and was no good. So already I feel that they have done shady business with the warranty and now my car has non matching rims on it which wasn’t a good feeling being I put so much money down. Now here is the big kicker. The car lasted 12 days. I was driving down Mack Rd in Sacramento and the car cut off. I had to have it towed home and come to find out its my timing chain, but when the chain broke it bent the valves of the engine and now I need a whole new engine. I am devastated because when I bought the car I needed transportation to and from work and for my children. To put that amount of money down, no warranty and not even a full two weeks later it break to this extent was terrible. So I contacted Mace, who said they would reimburse me $500 towards the repairs. I shouldn’t have to repair a car that was just bought off a lot to the degree of needing a whole new engine two weeks later! That’s crazy! I have called them over and over all they say is they will call back, or the owners sister passed hey are busy and so forth. Its June and my car is still in my garage. I owe a car note on it, I cant go anywhere and get a new loan because I have a open loan and im out of $4000. I shopped around to see if what th is engine cost and its almost as much as the cars is worth. I found a place who will sell me the engine for $2150 including labor. Which is half of what almost every tow yard has it for.I feel Mace needs to repair my vehicle or return my money because it is the right thing to do.I cant sue them under lemon law but I can sue them for unfair business practices and that all I want is for them to do the right thing. I didn’t bs them at all. Also I ran a [redacted] and the car wasn’t serviced in any way at all prior to them selling it to me.they need to know their vehicles before they sell them, although they are a used lot, it doesn’t mean sell people crappy cars and then refuse to help.Desired Settlement: I would likethem to replace my engine or return my money. Its the right thing to do. I dont want them to give me a cheap $500 towards repairs for a vehicle that should have ran past 2 weeks. I want my engine replaced or my money back period.

Review: Hello, the reason why I am making a complaint against this business is because I bought a car ans a week after a light came on and the only thing the business owner did was turn it off. He told me that he guaranteed me the vehicle was in good condition and if anything happened to the vehicle he guaranteed me he would fix it. The next day I was driving and the car motor was no longer working. I called them to let them know what had happened. They told me to take it to the dealer and they would pay for the towing. When the tow truck got there they refused to pay him. They took the car to the shop and 3 weeks have passed and they do not want to take responsibility for any of the repairs and want me to give them $3,000 dollars for the repair of the motor.Desired Settlement: I want them to respond for the repairs and to reimburse me for the towing fees.

Review: Mace Motors offered me $1500, for my 2005 Dodge Neon trade-in. When Mace Motors realized they had offered more than they should have, they claimed the "bank" would not accept the car as a trade in on the car loan. This is a false statement, they stated twice that the Neon was not worth the $1500. They continuously called my phone telling me I had to come in right away to re-sign papers. When I stated they were telling me false statements, they threatened to come and repossess the car I had bought from them. They wanted me to come re-sign paperwork that would make my payments HIGHER, for a loan that was LESS money.

I want to have the Revdex.com know about Mace Motor's shady dealings and possible investigation. Thank you

I would like my $300 refunded to me since they illegally had the car towed. I gave them $1000 as a down payment

Business' Initial Response

Because of the inconsistency of the consumers' complaint, we have chosen to break down the complaint into five sections in which we will address each issue accordingly.

1.) The Consumer stated "they claimed the "bank" would not accept the car as a trade in on the car loan."

a.The bank did not want to approve her for more than $12,999 (the price on the Versa). Her trade in was a Dodge Neon that she owed over $2,800. We offered to pay $1,500. That left her with a negative of $1,300. Her final car loan was going to be worth $14,299.

2.) The Consumer stated we wanted her to re-sign paperwork that would make her payments "higher" and be worth "less" money.

a. The consumer was never told she would have "higher" payments. She was told the bank would not accept her trade in and to come in to renegotiate the contract. If she didn't want the deal she was offered a full refund.

3.) Says we claim financing is finished and we call people back to sign higher interest rates

a. The contract she signed was a pre-approval on a weekend. The finance company we pre-approved her with was closed on that weekend. Monday was when we found out exactly how her deal would change.

4.) The consumer stated we were selling cars with missing engine parts and safety issues.

a. The consumer was fully aware of the air intake that was missing and decided to purchase the vehicle anyways. There was a verbal agreement that the part would be ordered and we would have our mechanic install it for her at no additional cost.

5.) We billed her for an "illegal tow" that we threatened her with.

a. Because her contract was a pre-approval, the car was still property of Mace Motors. She was advised beforehand that she needed to show up at the dealer to either sign or receive a full refund. She agreed twice, and did not show up. She was then told that if she didn't take care of the issue at hand, the vehicle would be towed at her expense.

Consumer's Final Response

Mace Motors responded that my complain was inconsistent, I will respond to their 5 sections:

1. Is a false statement from Mace Motors, they were unwilling to tell me the name of the "bank", after which I did get the name from them, I called the institution, (not a bank) and they claimed they had NO information for me or from Mace Motors.

I also have an email dated July 12, 2013, FRIDAY, in which [redacted] states I am approved AFTER I had given him the COMPLETE information on the Dodge Neon, including owing $2,500 on it. I had a conversation with him on the phone concerning paying off the Dodge Neon and if I was still approved, he verified yes. I was told I was approved completely BEFORE I stepped into the grimy office of Mace Motors. I wanted to verify I could be approved to buy a car before I wasted anyone's time going to the lot.

2. Another false statement, regarding the threatening phone conversation with [redacted] he said the paperwork was for less time and higher payments, without the Dodge Neon. In an earlier conversation with [redacted] he stated he could put the Dodge on 'consigment' on the lot to see if it would sell.

I was NEVER offered a full refund, and where the car lot is located, and the demeanor of [redacted] I was hesitate to return to the car lot.

3. Again, same false statement, they claimed more than once before I stepped onto the lot, ON FRIDAY, that I was PREAPPROVED,(which means I am approved before I enter their lot). I have an email stating I am approved. They never ONCE stated it was on any conditions.

4. [redacted] was NOT aware there was a missing engine part until he opened the hood of the car. There was also a brake light out and no spare tire in the trunk, that I found out about AFTER leaving the lot. WHAT KIND OF SAFETY INSPECTION DOES THIS PLACE DO???

5. I TOLD [redacted] I needed to have legal advice before returning to his lot, that is when he became threatening over the phone, I did attain legal advice, and he said they sounded like they were doing illegal activities and I should contact the Modesto Police Fraud, which I did also do. The lawyer also stated he was concerned Mace Motors would illegally try to obtain the car, WHICH THEY DID at my place of employment, and without using consumer service practices as in calling me!! I did say (once), I would come into the lot on Saturday morning BUT that was BEFORE [redacted] threatened me over the phone, and I obtained legal advice, and expected a follow up call from either [redacted] or a somewhat professional [redacted]

When I returned to the lot to obtain my down payment and Neon, they had 3 other women there and a kid,

claiming they had a lawyer but refused to give me the lawyer's name and insulted my self and the person I brought with me. This is a VERY UNPROFESSIONAL used car lot and I do believe they are scamming customers at least myself and need to be investigated.

Business' Final Response

The client was offered a full refund and not charged a re-stocking fee, so long as she brought the car back. She was notified that the car would be repossessed at her expense if she did not bring it back on her own terms. The $300 she was charged only covered the repossession. We waived the restocking fee of $250.
