Review: We have a service contract with Mack Oil for our heating system that we purchased each year. We've purchased the service plan on the telephone and no disclosures have ever been given to us about the service contract. We received damage to our heating system due to the recent floods and called them for service. During the phone call we let them know that we had water damage. They let on that this repair would be covered. They came out for service and completed without discussing the issue or disclosing that there would be a cost. The technician mentioned that we have the service plan. After he completed the service he then let us know that his headquarters just informed him that we would be charged for the repair of $855 due to the issue being caused by water damage. I said that they never told us this and that is why we had the service contract that we have to pay for on top of this. He said just sign the paper and take it up with them. I called them on 05/06 and spoke with [redacted] to complain that they knew from the beginning that we would have to pay and asked why they didn't disclose this. They said that they don't disclose this over the telephone. Then asked then why wasn't it discussed before any work was completed? They said they should have. Then asked why wasn't an estimate provided if they knew this was covered? They said normally one was given but they didn't this time. I asked why do they partake in unethical and deceptive business practices and they said that "oh well your wife signed the work order." [redacted] then said we should have known that no acts of God are covered, and I replied how would we know that if they never notified us. They are taking advantage of victims of the recent floods with their deceptive/unethical practices. If we were informed about the cost ahead of time, we would have made an informed decision to go with a servicer who is more affordable. However, they never allowed for this to happen because they deceived us in to believe the service was covered and then performed the service without notifying us of any cost.Desired Settlement: refund charges due to deceptive practices
