September 30, 2016Based on the response I received from MacKenzie Collier Interiors (MCI) through the Revdex.com (Revdex.com) there were three apologies in the body of the email but still no resolution despite taking my "feedback seriously". While at my home, MCI utilized the majority of the hour consultation to measure every room in the home but writes that "none of those drawings were intended to be final construction drawings or suited exactly to your distinct preferences, but simply useful suggestions and options" in the 8/2/email even though the Programming Phase (as described in the contract) states: "the Designer will collaborate with the Client to define the project concept, schedule, and budget guidelinesThe final design solutions will reflect the Client's initial comments and direction regarding the functional requirements and the aesthetic quality desired by the ClientThis phase will also include documenting the site, photographing and field measuring existing conditions, and reproducing the existing conditions in AutoCAD to allow for manipulation of the site in future phases of the project". The plans that were emailed to me did NOT reflect my initial comments regarding the functional requirements. In my email to MCI on 8/1/I describe how the plans did NOT meet the needs I outlined during our meeting. The email from MCI on 8/2/says "we hoped to turn it around that day" and the response through Revdex.com apologizes that I did not have them for my meeting with a contractor. In the 8/2/email MCI states that I "must know a design firm can't produce three complete floor plans in AutoCAD along with an explanatory description in less than hours". MCI should have recognized the complexity of the project and appropriately communicated that but did not. MCI should have appropriately planned the amount of time it required to complete the project. MCI's idea of going "above and beyond" to complete floor plans is simply a gross underestimation and lack of communication on their part. MCI's invoice *** dated 8/1/was paid in full since the email from MCI on 8/2/states I could be invoiced "for the full hours plus the initial consultation and pursue collections on that with our contracted legal team at MKC Law Firm". The contract states the "Client shall be responsible for all collection costs (including legal fees) necessitated by Client/Owner defaulting on its payment obligations". I have already paid the invoice and avoided any legal action for either party and am requesting a full refund to resolve this grievance. *** ***

In order to make such dramatic changes and maintain a very low budget, some compromises must be made in other areas. We provided you three plans, all solid design options, that met your functional requirements. Whether or not you choose to follow our professional opinion is up to you, but as per our contract, you are obligated to compensate us for the work we performed. Thank you.

we established your main goal was to put a plan in place to reconfigure the layout, which required us to measure. Our presence excited your four dogs, which presented a challenge as we struggled to communicate over barking. We're a team of dog owners and understand these things happen, but we also want to make sure customers get the focus and value they deserve. After several interruptions, I attempted to politely address the distraction. I apologize for how this came across. The reason we address budget is to ensure we can manage expectations and provide plausible, cost-effective design solutions that keep you within your means. We let you know that because your goals of moving walls and reconfiguring rooms were so intensive, they were not achievable within your $15k budget, but you wanted a plan for the future. You approved two additional hours of design time for space planning in AutoCAD.Creating layouts takes time, especially when the home poses such unique challenges, but we wanted to give you options, so we went above and beyond to deliver 3 different layouts at no extra charge. We did not guarantee the plans would be complete before your meeting, but I'm sorry you weren’t able to have them in front of you at the time. We tried our best to accommodate your timeline but wanted to make sure the work we delivered was our best. We have a clear contract so clients know exactly what to expect. You signed this contract prior to our initial consultation, completed the consultation, agreed to additional hourly services, received insightful design plans, but you wish to pay for nothing. We are a small business, and unfortunately, we cannot take such a hit.
