Work was started December & finished January My labor warranty is usually for one year only, but I will work with anyone if the need ever arises because I don't want any unhappy customersLets get the door issue out of the way firstI advised the homeowner that the double door that he wanted Installed would give him problems if he did not put some kind of protection over it such as a shed roof, ectHomeowner advised he would at a later dateAfter completion, homeowner called & stated the door was leaking due to improper installationI went back & Inspected it and found that the leak was not from installation but was just the nature of those type of doors where they go togetherThe door was caulked all way aroundLater homeowner called & Stated he found out from someone that the door should not have been installed with screws to fasten it in place & wanted it fixed (this is just a matter of personal preference)I went back & took all of the brick moulding off & replaced it with new at no cost to the homeowner for the material or laborI installed it with malls & recaulked all the way roundHe was still complaining about a leak (still no protection over it) so I contacted the lumber yard where I got the door & asked them to try & rectify the situation by contacting the door company or whatever they felt needed to be done but it was out of my handsAs far as I knew they took care of it but I guess notIt is still NOT an Installation problemNothing has been mentioned about the addition at this timeHomeowner called maybe a year ago (I did not write the date down) & thought the roof on his house was leaking where we had installed metal roofingI told him I would be over to look at itBy the time I got there a few days later, He had learned that he needed more ventilation & the metal was sweating not the roof leakingWe had a nice friendly visit & I went on my way (still no mention of any problems with the addition)Now all of a sudden he has all kinds of problems & the work is very shoddy HMMMM The materials that were used are the standard dimension lumber, subfloor material, sheathing, & decking used every day by thousands of contractorsEverything is on 16" centers also, We only "dried in" this addition not doing anything to the inside & no siding on the outside since he was going to have rock put on itI will say, that the screws can be stripped out in the decking if you do not know what
you are doing, but they were not when we left so if they are now this means that the homeowner or someone he contacted had to get up on the roof & actually put some kind of tool on the screws or they would not be able to say they were stripping out

because as we all know, a screw will not strip itself out just sitting there on the roof undisturbed & again, if you do not watch what you are doing, you can strip them outThe decking on the roof of the addition could not be butted up completely to the existing house due to the irregular installation of the rock that makes up the covering on the outside of the house, As far as the flashing not being bent properly, I don't know what he means as it was done the best it could be for this type of applicationAgain he may have someone coaching him that has a different opinion than mine but you know how that old saying goesNow, after all this having been said, I was NEVER contacted about there being a problem with the addition other than the door or I would have tried to look at it & see what, if anything could be doneI do not like being reported for something before I have had a chance to fix the problem & this is the first time I have ever been reportedI think that the decking will not have to be removed & that Some 1x 4's could be placed over the decking & malled to the rafters & reinstall the metal attaching the screws to the wood but I can't be sure without looking at it & I can't say anything about the flashing til I can kok at tIf the homeowner wants to pay for the x 4's & some flashing should it be needed (of which the dollar amount will not be very much) I will supply the labor at no cost to him providing this plan will work which will be determined after I look at itI want my customers to be satisfied with my work since most of my jobs come from word of mouth & I can assure you that I have many satisfied customersI also want to say that if this is acceptable to the homeowner, he probably should have a representative (family member ect) meet with me when I come to look at this because it might go too well if we were to meet after the way this all came about, since I will say it again, I was NEVER contacted about a problem with the addition other than the door (last time I was there, still no protection over it) If this is acceptable, my schedule is completely booked tilwell after the first of the year, so we would probably be looking at a time frame of February to May depending on weather & other uncontrollable factorsIf for some reason I can get to it sooner, I will contact your office or homeowners representative & let them know, You might let the homeowner know, it is always a good dea to try & work out these situations with the contractor first & then if not satisfied, contact your office, We take pride in our work & try to do a very good job for everyone,
Thanks,

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 17, 2015/12/01) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I feel the contshould have allowed for the fit of the addition to the houseMetal that was not bent to conform the house to addition allowed birds, snakes, and rodents to enterMy research found that other contractors do not recommend using USB decking for metal roofI feel the conttook on more than he could handle, by his remarks,THAT JOB WAS TAKING LONGER THAN HE HAD THOUGHTThere is eves and soffits on addition to cover doorsI was never advised on a so called coverI originally wanted a sliding double door, but contsaid a double casement door would be betterAlso the single entry door was a cheaper door and not the same manufacture as the double doorsI like to support my local communityI am aware that contare busy, but a follon a completed job should be a courtesy to the customerI also feel the addition should have been done RIGHT the first time! Finally the contcould have contacted me when he first got a notice, not later***
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 21, 2015/12/07) */
I have read the contresponse and I feel the contjust wants to put a band aid on the addition and not correct the issues that I have raisedDue to the tone of contresponse, it seems that they are not happy with being reportedI will hire some one to correct the issues, or do it myselfIt is my hope, that anyone that is considering using this cont., inspect there project before payment is madeI request closer to this complaint
Final Business Response /* (4000, 26, 2015/12/17) */
As for homeowners first response, his memory must be slipping because I have a co-worker that remembers my discussion with the homeowner about a cover over the double doors and again he said he would do that at a later dateThere is NOTHING wrong with the structural integrity of the add-onObviously he is not happy now (yrs later ) and as I said before, had I been contacted first about the problems other the doors, I would have been glad to check on themI was always taught to treat people like you want to be treated but I guess he wasn't since he contacted your office instead of me and now he is unhappy because I followed protocol and contacted your office with a response instead of himI think he should have given me the same consideration that he thought I owed him before he contacted youAs for the Band-Aid effect, it would be a better solution for both of us than what he is suggesting and no I am not happy with being reported when not everything being stated is on the levelI feel this is an attempt to give me a bad reputation for whatever reason I would not knowHomeowner did inspect addition and as I stated before, according to him, he was happy with it ( except for the door problem ) til nowSince it is plain he now doesn't like my work it would probably be better if he got someone else like he says because it appears I would not be able to please him anywayI do feel bad that he thinks he got inferior work but I can assure you he did notAgain we take pride in our work and try to please everyone we work for so we can repeat business and good referencesYes, you can close this complaint!
