I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below Regards, [redacted] After reading your extremely rude and unprofessional response, it is amazing that you have received an outstanding rating from the Revdex.com! Maybe your other customers didn't want to take the time to give criticism, but when I am a paying customer I believe in giving a company feedbackI know if I was a business owner, I would want to know what I can do to improve my company, but obviously your customer service skills are lacking As far as not walking on the roof, you are correct in saying that I was aware you didn't walk on the roofHowever as a new homeowner, I wasn't aware that inspecting the roof on foot is a regular part of a home inspectionAfter talking to various homeowners, NOT walking on the roof to inspect it is out of the ordinary for a home inspectionHow would you be able to inspect the roof thoroughly when you didn't walk on it? You stated word-for-word, "I couldn't describe the approximate age and general condition of the shingle COVERING because that's what I can see." Obviously you cannot see any problems up close and personal if you're solely using binoculars! When you're paying someone $for an inspection the least they can do is get on your roofI shouldn't have to ask you to do your job! The report did say, "trim and maintain vegetation away from the structure to reduce moisture damages and premature wear of the finishing materials." Ivy wasn't specifically mentioned, but I do apologize for not paying attention to that wording more carefully The rudeness accusation, obviously just from reading your response, is an issueI didn't make you wait, you took your time and were friendly, then suddenly your changed your tune! You were chatting up my family and taking your time with the inspectionI wasn't keeping you! My sister was witness to your attitude change and acknowledged your odd behaviorActing as though you were not going to get paid is absurd! I did indeed ask questions and go over the reportYou did print the report summary on site and e-mail it to me, that is your job! I shouldn't have to tell you to do your job (walk on the roof) or thank you for doing what is expected (answering questions, printing the report)Foremost, no one should have to deal with a business owner that cannot take ownership of their poor judgementI admitted to not paying attention to the vegetation comment. You got your apology! You on the other hand, wrote a defensive, childish response addressing my concernsYou may not refund me or adjust your attitude for future clients, but I will pass along my experience to others and I guarantee word-of-mouth can be very damaging for business

I have an outstanding rating with the Revdex.com for a reasonI have been providing quality service to clients in this area for nearly yearsPillar to Post inspectors are the best trained in the industry and receive BY FAR the fewest number of complaints, hence the rating I have
performed nearly 5,house inspections in that time and I know how to write a descriptive reportPerhaps my client was not aware she was purchasing a vacant year old house or perhaps she didn't read the report She was certainly aware that I did not walk on the roof and she had every opportunity to mention this at the inspection but she did not Allow me to quote from my report which she received that dayThis comment is word for word from the roof page and goes directly to her comment about water getting in and freezing " I cannot see, for example, all the flashing or ice guards installed BENEATH the shingles I will attempt to describe the approximate age and general condition of the shingle COVERING because that's what I can see." What I can seeGet it? It is a visual inspectionI cannot predict future eventsAs far as the ivy on the foundation wall question, again, let me quote from the reportThis is from Page 1," Property and Site", sub section "Landscaping" " The most important thing with landscaping is to keep positive grading away from the houseThis will go a long way to directing rain water away from the foundation Trim and maintain vegetation away from the structure to reduce moisture damages and premature wear of the finishing materials" Trim and maintain vegetation away from the structure to reduce damagesThere it isOn the report How about an apology? How about you retract your complaint? She paid me for a descriptive reportShe got it How much more clear can it be? Did she read it? It's all on the reportThere will be no refundAs far as her accusation of rudeness on my part when asking for the money here's a little tip: don't make people you hire ask for the money Clients do this all the time and I'm sure it irks a lot of contractors I showed up on time and ready to work, I did the inspection while encouraging her to join me and ask all the questions she wanted, when finished we went over the report and then I printed the report summary on site and e-mailed the entire report to her on site I lived up to my end of the bargain Then I am supposed to say uh, pardon me but if it isn't too much trouble would you mind living up to your end of the deal and pay me without me having to stand here and ask for it?' Have the money ready Be an adult

After talking to various homeowners, NOT walking on the roof to inspect it is out of the ordinary for a home inspection. How would you be able to inspect the roof thoroughly when you didn't walk on it? You stated word-for-word, "I couldn't describe the approximate age and general condition of the shingle COVERING  because that's what I can see."  Obviously you cannot see any problems up close and personal if you're solely using binoculars! When you're paying someone $500.00 for an inspection the least they can do is get on your roof. I shouldn't have to ask you to do your job!   The report did say, "trim and maintain vegetation away from the structure to reduce moisture damages and premature wear of the finishing materials." Ivy wasn't specifically mentioned, but I do apologize for not paying attention to that wording more carefully.   The rudeness accusation, obviously just from reading your response, is an issue. You did print the report summary on site and e-mail it to me, that is your job! I shouldn't have to tell you to do your job (walk on the roof) or thank you for doing what is expected (answering questions, printing the report). Foremost, no one should have to deal with a business owner that cannot take ownership of their poor judgement. I admitted to not paying attention to the vegetation comment. You got your apology! You on the other hand, wrote a defensive, childish response addressing my concerns. You may not refund me or adjust your attitude for future clients, but I will pass along my experience to others and I guarantee word-of-mouth can be very damaging for business.
