Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because it is wholly inaccurate
I would hardly call the issues I raised “minor details”. When I first saw the tables, I was in utter disbelief at the poor workmanship I had seen the many pictures of finished pieces MrC*** has posted in his advertising on Facebook, as well as on his website, which showed a high degree of craftsmanship and skill What MrC*** produced was amateur work that in no way resembled the work he advertises I have never made any “nasty comments” on MrC***’s Facebook account or posts, and I would challenge him to produce any evidence whatsoever that I have done so. MrC*** has been using pictures of my unfinished tables as part of his advertising. I politely asked him to stop using them since I was not satisfied with his work. He refused, stating that I was a customer and they had a right to post the pictures. In response, I posted two pictures of the finished tables, showing close-ups of the finish. I did not include any comments or text as the pictures speak for themselves. He immediately blocked me, and I have not received any messages from him other than an advertisement for 30% off a purchase. He continues to use pictures of my unfinished tables in process alongside finished work that is not his, implying that the result will be of similar qualityUsing photos of others’ work is blatantly misleading and implying that the work he produces is of the same caliber is profoundly unethical. I have since discovered that one of his advertising photos is from the HGTV show “Fixer Upper” and was posted on their Instagram account When I shared the pictures with the admin of one of the Facebook groups he advertises on, he was immediately removed
MrC*** indicates that he came up to my studio to “help install some parts” on the day I picked up the shelving. He was in fact coming to fix an error on his part which resulted in all of the tables being 2” too tall. When I initially asked him to fix the problem, he said the tables were fine, and that he would work up a quote if I wanted them shortened as doing so would be “cutting into his profits.” I was angry that in addition to the poor quality finish work on all of the pieces, I had tables that were not as specified, and I was also stuck with shelving that was very different from the pictures I had provided to him. I expressed my frustration quite clearly to MrC***, pointing out that he had told me he “guarantees his work”, but the only option he offered was for us to take the tables back to his shop at our expense so he could apply yet another coat of polyurethane. I was very angry at having been misled by his advertising, and I had by that point discovered that none of the photos he had shown me were his own work. I made it quite clear that the only reason I had accepted the pieces was that I had already spent my budget for the tables and did not have enough time or resources to order anything else. I owed him roughly 10% of the total bill, which I told him I should not have to pay due to the poor quality and the end product not being what we agreed upon I also told him that I needed an invoice for the total amount since this was a business expense, but he did not have one, and he said he could not produce one from his phone I told him I would send him a check when I received the invoice, but he refused to leave the premises without full payment. I agreed to write him a check, but had to mark up an earlier invoice to show the amounts paid and the final amount due and asked him to sign it as paid in full.
I have since spent roughly hours refinishing of the tables I am not a woodworker, so I had to spend several hundred dollars on equipment and supplies, which included the purchase of a sander and shop vac, numerous packages of sandpaper, wood filler, wood conditioner, stain, and sealer The tables are now functional, though still warped and uneven, which I cannot fix, but the shelving is still not as promised, and I still have many hours of work to do to refinish the remaining two tables to make them usable. MrC*** stated that he guarantees his work, but I have not been offered any remedy aside from additional coats of polyurethane, which will not produce a satisfactory result
Sincerely,*** ***

[redacted] was a customer who was opening up a business in Maple Valley called [redacted]. She had found us on Facebook and wanted me to come out and meet with her to discuss her needs and options for tables for her new business. I met with her and after having her explain what she was looking...

for I put together a quote for her. She reviewed it and we discussed the overall outcome and agreed to the terms and everything. She paid a deposit so we could get started on her order. When we had all the tables finished we had her come up and take a look at them. At that time she expressed that there was a few minor details wrong and after spending a good amount of time going over what she would like and some options we proceeded to do some more work on the tables to get them how she wanted. When they picked up the last pieces which were 2 shelving units I followed her up to her store and helped her install some parts. At that point and time I was suppose to receive the final payment. She hesitated and then (for lack of better words) unleashed on me. Telling me that this is nothing like she asked for and that she didnt feel she needed to pay me anymore because they were already way more than she had wanted to spend and she was running out of money and stressed and everything. After talking with her for over an hour she apologized said that she was just stressed because funds were low and that she was running out of time as well. She paid me the rest and that was that. However she then proceeded to start commenting nasty things on my Facebook page and advertising that I do. So I had to block her. I tried to message her and she did not respond kindly. I do not feel we owe her any money. The product was as we described. Everyone who has seen them loves them. She has simply run out of money and is stressing because she spent to much on the tables and is regretting it. Our company is very small. I am a one man show and when we get an order that is all the money we have for that order. We don't have capitol or overhead and we do not offer refunds for this type of situation. I offered her plenty of solutions, none which she liked.
