Madison College apologizes for this miscommunication, resulting in a registration into a class without the full awareness of the student We are especially concerned at the delays and misdirected phone calls experienced by the student while investigating this registration, and are undertaking serious efforts to get calls to the correct person and office quickly We have authorized a full refund for this student, and will continue to improve our screening and forwarding of all calls to our campus through a committee formed for this purpose

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. It is apparent to me that Madison College is unprepared to take this remotely seriously They are simply repeating the same thing over and over again Repeating themselves over and over does not make it true I am an individual without the means to mount a legal defense for dollars If my electronic account was used, they have not addressed why it was, in fact still active It seems they have no answer I did not register for these classes. It is very paternalistic to simply send a repetitive letter stating that it is their final word on the subject.Perhaps if I was a consistent late-payer or something similar but I was a consistent payer, on timeDean's list, [redacted] .They are in error and haven't the corporate humility to show it So I will make it my business to ensure that anyone I know who has attended Madison College check and if there is a problem with their transcripts place a complaint on here Even if they have no need for their transcripts Social Media [redacted] Even a college can't hide behind the rubbish of "should have contacted us earlier" or "we have a process" Perhaps I have a process too I will seek a lawyer because I am absolutely incandescent I thought my former college had better manners Regards, Fiona [redacted] **

response to the complaint and according to the
student record, the student registered for the classes in dispute via
self-service in her password-secured online Student Center on June 13, 2013.
The student never dropped these classes and per Madison College refund policy,
classes must be dropped prior to the start date for a full refund; classes
dropped on or after the start date will receive the appropriate refund per the

Classes dropped during any refund period do not appear on your transcript. 0% refund: Drop class after 20% of the class is completed. Classes dropped after the 60% refund period remain on your transcript and receive a final grade of "W" (withdrawal). Madison College records indicate calls were received
from the student on February 17, 2017. Email records related to these phone
calls demonstrate that an inquiry was made related to the process for disputing
a balance on a student account and the student was provided information on the
process to dispute a balance with the collections agency handling her account.
The email sent on February 17, 2017 is as follows: Hello?Heather, Thank you for contacting Madison College. Today we discussed the
balance on your account.  As it has been
a number of years, you are no longer able to dispute the process through
Madison College so I gave you the information for the collections company that
the balance is being held with.  Your
previous requests for information were addressed but the responses were sent to

Response:

I am writing to acknowledge receipt of your June 3, 2014 communication to Dr. [redacted] III, President of Madison Area Technical College, with regard to a complaint filed by Mr. [redacted] (claim ID# [redacted]). Dr. [redacted] asked that I investigate and address the complaint.

In the complaint, Mr. [redacted] claims that he was charged for a class that he never enrolled in. A review of the student’s academic records shows that Mr. [redacted] has enrolled in two terms at the college. During the term in question, Spring 2014, Mr. [redacted] enrolled in three courses, dropping two prior to the start of the term. College policy states only the student may register and drop courses; staff are restricted from completing any such action for a student. College policy for class refunds are as follows:

• Prior to class start date – 100% refund

• Prior to 11% of class completed – 80% refund

• From 11% and prior to 20% of class completed – 60% refund

• After 20% of class completed – No Refund

Nonattendance does not constitute a cancellation of registration, and students are responsible for tuition and fees not paid. Students who are reported as "no shows," who do not attend the first class meeting, or who do not log into an online class by the first day of class without officially dropping will not receive a refund and will be responsible for payment of the applicable tuition and fees.

In Mr. [redacted]’s situation, it appears as though he received a “W” withdrawal for the course in question as a result of a “no-show”. Constantly, as a result Mr. [redacted]’s records indicate balance of $624.19 for the tuition and fees for the course. The payment due date for the class was February 22, 2014. All students are sent a statement of account via their student college email account followed up with mailings indicating a balance regarding the account. After 30 days a student is sent a letter indicating they have 20 days to pay their balance prior to having the account sent to collections.

Our records show that Mr. [redacted] received only one letter with regard to having his account forwarded to collection. Further we have nothing indicating that Mr. [redacted] contacted the college to address the issue or proceeded with filing a dispute of charges via the college procedures prior to bringing the matter to your attention.

As a result of receiving your communication, we have contacted Mr. [redacted] to address his concern and better understand what may have taken place that lead to his account going past due. As a result of my conversation with Mr. [redacted] on June 9, 2014 we have been able to resolve the matter to both parties satisfaction.

Should you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to call me.

Sincerely

I have had nothing but problems with MATC since I have enrolled. I was pleased when I met [redacted], my academic adviser, he was very knowledgeable and helpful in getting me onto the correct path. However, after I enrolled everything went down hill from there. I went to the bookstore to get my books and the charged me 40 dollars more for a book that I was supposed to be charged. They didn't even apologize and stated "prices vary" they refused to give me back the 40 dollars and hid behind the "Prices Vary". I showed them my paper I printed from Madison College and they didn't care. I wanted to log onto MyMadisonCollege website to prove to them that the price I was charged was incorrect and they told me "NO"; "and even if you did show us we don't have to honor that price" Well, I got upset, when people in Customer Service are so rude for absolutely no reason it has a bad reaction in my stomach. I told them I was reporting them to the Revdex.com and they laughed and said "Go Ahead" I then asked them one more time to refund the 40 dollars and they refused. As I was leaving a person in the bookstore says, "they have everyone over a barrel, they don't have to be nice to anyone" I turned back to see who said it and it was an employee. I then went directly to [redacted] and talked to him. He then directed me to enrollment center. Nothing has been done to date.
