Review: The customer service from the management team at Madison Falls Run Apartments is beyond horrific. As a resident of this complex for the past two and a half years, I have experienced many issues from being promised an updated apartment and receiving an apartment with multiple maintenance issues to a lack of communication. On this particular occasion, rent for the apartment is due on the first of each month; however, you are given unto the third to pay your balance in full. You are given the option to pay your balance either online or through a check/money order. After several issues with online payment, the apartment complex stated they wished to receive their payment through a check or money order. Well, my check from work was deposited in my account on the March 3rd, 2014. On March 3, 2014 in Fredericksburg, VA, we were experiencing a snowstorm with temperatures in the low twenties. However, to prevent having to face a late fee, I choose to venture out into the storm to procure a money order to pay my rent. As I turned out from my apartment complex, a car lost control and slide into me causing a car accident that broke the front axle of my car. The accident according around 3:30 PM, I immediate contacted my fianc to notify her of the accident so that she could contact the front office. She made the call at about 4:00 PM prior to walking to the scene of the accident. The following day, my fianc contacted the front office again since nobody returned her phone call. I on the other hand was trying to deal with my insurance and reserving a rental car in order to have transportation. As the day progressed no one from the front office called out of concern or to even address the issues with rent; however, after I was given a rental car at about 5:00 PM, I was able to go and get the necessary money order to pay rent. My rent check was dropped off at about 6:15 PM on March 4, 2014. Upon returning home, I noticed a late fee paper was posted on my door. I immediately contacted the front office and left a message to find out more information. I did not receive a call from the front office until March 6, 2014 at approximately 11 AM, at which time the [redacted] notified me there was not he could do as far as my late was concerned even though he was notified about the entire incident. He stated, "Residents are actually given until 4th of each month at 11 AM to have their rent dropped in the box." After acknowledging he received the phone calls, he processed to say that the apartment complex does not offer courtesy waivers for late fees and asked when the late fee would be paid.This apartment complex failed to return multiple phone calls from my fianc and I pertaining to the rent issue. Yet, this is not the first time that management has failed to return urgent phone calls/messages in a timely manner. In addition, management failed to notify me that I had until 11 AM on the 4th, at which time they would have been notified that I would get the money order to them as soon as I had transportation. Madison Falls Run apartment complex is not a family oriented community and management neglects basic duties and common courtesies.Desired Settlement: I only wish that Madison Falls Run acknowledged the extenuating circumstances behind this situation. No late fee should have been applied to this situation.
