Madison Window Cleaning

Review: I hired Madison Window Cleaning to do a 3-sided cleaning of my 2nd floor windows. (3-sided = everything but the inside windows). I live in an old house the workings of which I know intimately, and I am also aware that sash cords break with age and use. Because of this, I checked each window to be cleaned that very morning to make sure it was in working order ( all were) and explained to the window cleaners not to force anything, and that I would be downstairs in case of any question or problem. Despite my precautions, they broke 3 window-weight cords what were functional and fine that morning and left without saying a word. The windows wouldn't even shut when I went to take a look! I immediately called [redacted], who refused to take any responsibility, claiming I'd waived my rights by signing a waiver. I had read the waiver I signed and asked for a copy of it before signing, but was never given one. Taking with [redacted] on phone call was very unpleasant and he was aggressive.

A week later, [redacted] brought 2 other men, ostensibly to give their unbiased opinion: one worked for the company, however, and the other was [redacted]'s friend who was trying to sell me his window repair service! I felt like I was being scammed! They denied all responsibility and tried to get me to hire their friend to make repairs, offering nothing in return, claiming the fault was entirely mine--even though the window repairman admitted that it was very unusual for 3 functioning windows to break on the same day while being cleaned by the same man, and yet have nothing to do with the cleaning.

Despite all their happy prose on their (now defunct) website, Madison Window Cleaning does shoddy work for which they will take no responsibility. I would like them to own up to the damage they caused to three windows in my house, since they were fine before the windows were negligently handled. It's going to cost more to get them fixed than it did have them cleaned!Desired Settlement: I want Madison Window Cleaning to take responsibility for the work they did. I want the windows repaired, that is, to have them function as they did before negligence during the cleaning. Since the windows worked, I inspected them that morning, and negligence was not excused in the waiver (of which I was never given a copy), it is Madison Window Cleaning's responsibility to make this situation right. Please note I paid for the service I was provided; I just want them to make good on their 1/2 of the bargain!
